Indiana Jones 5

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Poorly? Kotcs made almost 800 mil dude. The next installment should easily make 500 mil at least. All you nah sayers will also go when it comes out ;)

Sorry i misunderstood. But you'll see it. Trust me ;). After all you saw kotcs ;)

Nope. I didn't. I mean, I heard enough about it here that I might as well have, but I never watched it and don't intend to.

It's the free coaster in my Blu-Ray set, too.

Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Well don't believe the hype. Kotcs isn't all bad. The first hour feels like an indy movie. Then things turn to ****. I have a sum up of the entire movie somewhere which parts are good, bad and worse ;). If you're interested, i'll post it here.

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Nah, best not to derail. I honestly won't see it. I see no reason to. I'm happy with the Indiana Jones Trilogy. ;) I don't need or want any more.

Hahaha i respect that. Funny you responded in this thread though. Secretly interested hahaha.

It would be funny if @bbl IS the guy in the video! Props for promoting yourself if true! :cheers

Here's a question: How old was Charles Bronson in Death Wish 5? I'm guessing 70ish? Because THAT is what I call too old for an action movie.

Bronson may not have been an A List movie star like Harrison (not knocking him- I love Bronson), but he was no 'frail old man' either-- and still I doubt three people saw DW5 in the theater.....

We should take that as an example of going too far

*edit* BUT. If they toned down the action just a tad and made the story more character driven, like, say Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven? That's a movie I'd be more likely to get behind

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Dude, it's an Indiana Jones movie. "Character-driven" has never been part of the Indy series.

Naw that ain't me. I'm a few tones darker ;). Got this movie of ign. Guy looks like a young hf though.

But i like your point. Indy movies were movies suited for its time. Modern filmmaking should make it more around the character. I mean when clint eastwood pulled his finger from under his jacket in gran torino he got me like wow. This dude is badass!

I'd like to know more about the character of indy himself. In tlc we saw where he comes from. Now i like to know what happened during the war? While being behind enemy lines did he pull a 'kelly's heroes' and went on his own quest? What happened to his personality? In the beginning of raiders he was a tough guy to deal with. He was the driving force in the adventure. He knew what to do. Same goes for tid and tlc. In kotcs he was one of a group. Sometimes the leader, but not the whole time. He was dependant at some points. Didn't have the answers. He should have said, **** you ox, i'll do it on my own you babling buffoon.

Best,

Robert

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Paramount has a 5 picture deal to distribute, which if Disney doesn't want to produce the picture (which it seems they have no interest in doing) then paramount has nothing to distribute. I suppose Paramount could try to sue Disney over the lack of potential earnings from said picture, but if Harrison and Speilberg aren't on board I doubt they would bother. Either way I seriously doubt we will ever see another Indiana Jones Movie

They could try, but they'd likely lose. If what you say is accurate, then Paramount has no right to make Disney make a film. What they have is the right to distribute IF Disney makes a film. Disney's only obligation is to give Paramount the right to distribute IF they make a film. If they don't, there's no obligation to fulfil.

Or think of it this way.

You have an old classic car, and I really love the whitewalled tires on it. We sign a contract that says "If DarklyDreaming sells his car, Solo4114 gets the right to buy the tires before anyone else does." Does that mean I can make you sell your car so that I can get the tires? No. It only means that IF you sell your car THEN I get a crack at the tires.

You'd have a similar obligation if, for example, Shia Lebouf had been signed to a 2-picture deal with LucasFilm to make Indy movies. That doesn't mean that Shia can make LucasFilm produce a new Indy movie, nor even that he can make them cast him if they decide to make one without him. All it means is that he's on call for LucasFilm if they make one and want him involved.

Very well said. Are you a corporate lawyer for Paramount?

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Indy #4 was more "character driven" than ever, and people didn't like that.

In fact I think that was the strongest thing about the movie. It painted a believable future path for Indy's middle age, reunited him with Marion, gave him a kid, and pulled it all off while fitting the character we knew in the old movies. That was no easy feat. There were a lot of ways to do that wrong and only a few ways to do it right. 20 years of life story about an iconic character dreamed up in one fell swoop, and it was done so well that very few people really even questioned it. (Yeah they questioned the casting of the kid. But that's a different issue.)

I would be surprised if we didn't see more adventures out of Indy in some form. Probably a younger actor playing Indy in his 20s or else another young actor playing Indy's son/grandson/etc. There is a lot of money left in the franchise if they can just put the right fresh face on it.

Love it or hate it, they will probably do it sooner or later. At this point George Lucas probably wouldn't care if they cast Howard the Duck to play Indy in another movie. Spielberg would be on board as long as whatever they proposed had some decent quality and it was not directly threatening the legacy of his Indy movies.

I have to admit is they made #5, I would see it at home if I was assured of Indy's death on screen. :lol
