Indiana Jones 5

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

lump me in with the camp that do not want to see old Indy, however I am not opposed to more Indiana Jones films with a new actor playing Indy, like maybe, Nathan Fillion.... I could totally see it.

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Not that I'm outright saying I want a re-cast, if it did happen, I could picture a guy like Timothy Olyphant in the ol' hat. He has the rught kind of ruggedness and charm I think. Not a 'pretty boy', and not a big giant 'Schwarzenegger' type.

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

to create the future, you gotta understand the past ;)

Yeah, the Thread somewhat developed a momentum on it´s own.
To sum the digression up: No, Indy in later time (now for example) is not possible with him drinking from the grail.
Back to ideas, "No new Indy"-reasons and other interesting discussions.

(If anybody would be so nice to tell me via pm the answer to my last question, I would thank him alot)

I cannot stand that guy, so that would mean no new Indy for me. Won't like anyone else in the role, but definitely not THAT guy.

Nathan Fillion... great actor... just isn't Indy.

Only Ford is Indy.

Amen to that!

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

I think that it is inevitable that it will be re-cast at some point with a new actor playing Indy. Disney didn't buy it, NOT to use it. And let's face it. I love Harrison, but how much can he run around these days.

They re-cast Bond....we go see it.

They re-cast Kirk and Spock....we go see it.

They know that we will go see it, and if done right, it will work.

As long as it holds true to the first Indy movies, and is not a STUPID Robocop type of reboot, it should work.

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Recasting Bond has become more of a tradition than anything. The question of who's going to carry the torch next is part of why we love the Bond series...

In all fairness, it took them 43 years before recasting Kirk and Spock...

Some series (like Indy, BTTF, and SW) deserve to die in peace and with honor while others seem to be fueled by a constant desire for more more more.

my 2c.

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Correct, passing beyond the seal (as Indy and Henry did) means they don't get immortality, the "price" is staying within the seal as the knight did.

I never saw it that way, but i suppose that makes sense too. It's not explained too well in the movie, though, so there's no way of knowing which way they meant it.

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Pretty sure I remember something from back in the day about how they envisioned Indy to be a Bond type series with a new adventure every few years.

If that was the case then Ford really shouldn't have been left in the role for 30 yrs, nor should they have advanced the story a couple decades with CS. I think it's too late to attempt a "Bond" like swap of actors. The only way I can see it working is a "young Indy" type scenario, and of course that's already been done.

Right. Anything in the Ford timeline is gonna be viewed...poorly, I'd think...if they tried to replace him with someone else, and there's really kind of a limited window there that they could address. Basically WWII.

You could MAYBE get the mid-20s to mid-30s, but given that YIJC ends in, what, '21? '22? And TLD is in...'36? You really don't have all that much of a window.

Poorly? Kotcs made almost 800 mil dude. The next installment should easily make 500 mil at least. All you nah sayers will also go when it comes out ;)

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

McDonald's sells lots of burgers, dosen't mean it's quality. I can assure you I won't be seeing Indy 5. :)

Re: Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Although I suspect that many here would be opposed to the idea but I think that a sequel series, a sort of Raiders the Next Generation, with Shia (or another actor in the role of Indy's son) taking over for, a now retired, Indy. The first movie could have Harrison Ford in it but in a supporting role and to establish the handing over over of the fedora to Mutt. This would open up the 50s to the series and, if they don't waste too much time in between movies, lead up to the 60s and more Russian commie bad guys.

1.) You're wrong. I won't go. I didn't go to the last one, I won't go to another one.

2.) Read my original comment closer, dude. I was saying that sticking a new actor in DURING the Ford timeline (1936-1957) would be poorly received because it wouldn't be Harrison Ford.

Indiana jones 5 still happening?

Just read there is 5 movie deal with paramount. If they get this one out of the way, disney can do what they want with the franchise.

To all you that don't want to see it. What if you hear it rocks and is magicly up there with raiders :p?
