Incorporating functional gas mask: Good idea or waste of time?

Well I'm still trying to find time to invest in making a decent NCR Veteran helmet, but especially lately I got the idea of incorporating a functional half respirator inside a casting of the helmet. Originally I had the idea that the respirator would help isolate my breath from the rest of the helmet shell and would cut down on fogging and heat, and especially since the veteran ranger helmet is literally a gas mask it wouldn't be too hard to incorporate. Also, a small microphone set inside the respirator might help prevent feedback from the earbuds or whatever. Then once this pandemic fun started, I learned that external PAPR devices exist which gave me the extra idea that since according to game art the helmet already connects to a similar device anyway, that working in a respirator into the helmet made even more sense since it would be actually somewhat useful aside from just a bucket with eyeholes.

So from more experienced builders, does this seem like a decent idea? Or a ton of effort for it to not work?

I'm no expert on building costumes, but you don't want to wear a respirator or gas mask unless you absolutely have to, they will restrict your breathing if properly worn. It could be okay if you are not doing much physical activity and just standing or slowly walking around. However this is only based on my personal experience with gas mask from my military days (long time ago).
