In Progress: Obi-Wan Kenobi Clone Wars

Looks like the handguards have a continuous curve across the back of the hand, rather than a single break, but it's hard for me to tell from the pix. Any thoughts on that?

You're totally right. I'm using old Clone hands so they have the bend instead of being a smooth curve. I may try and redo them. It wouldn't take a long time. Just cut some sintra and mold it really quick.

Would there be any chance at getting casts of the armor you put together?

I absolutely LOVE what you did with it and I'd be the first to put my name on an interest list!

Uh...I don't even know how to do that. It's really rough and not symmetrical in person. Don't let the pictures fool you into thinking they're perfect. It's always a possibility but beyond my expertise or experience.

You could always make a brush on mold. I could link you to some tutorial videos, it's actually not too difficult to mold it in polyurethane resin and such.

So, after finally cleaning my apartment I worked on my new belt. It's stylized like the show. The smaller belt is glued to the larger and has no rivets. There's no back closure or keeper. It closes on the side with velcro and the split is hidden under one of the pouches. The buckle is the stylized shape of the show and made of plastic. Weathered it all to look like the show. The dye on the belt isn't 100% yet. It needed to be more of a russet but I was out. I don't know the colors of Tandy's new Eco-Flo dye line. It's all we can get in CA now. So, I may do another belt in the future.

Tonight I worked on the collar. I made the dickie out of white vinyl this time and cemented the front to the underside of the armor. The foam collar is attached to that dickie and it closes with velcro in the back. It looks a lot flatter and more permanent than the t-shirt solution I used at Comicon. Not exactly what I'd like but a big improvement. Tomorrow I have a costume event so I won't be doing anymore work until Wednesday. I'll paint the collar and dickie with flat white Design Masters spray and then weather it all to match the rest of the armor.

you could make a urethane brush on mold with no probelm at all. If you could handle the sintra and bondo you can do something simple like that . Anyway it all looks awesome, I love the thickness of that foam collar.

Thanks a lot.

I am sure I could mold it. The question is do I want to? It's not really "my design" as a friend helped me build it off templates he had form his armor. I could talk to him and see what he thinks.

It does look great.

I'd be one of those that would love to see you mold that, and make an interest run, I'd place my name on it. :p

I'd love to see how it all turns out.

Some sort of super heavy yet breakable resin I guess. I would think since it was so thick it would have bounced. But it did fall like 5 and a half feet straight down onto pavement.
