Looking at an Imperial Officer's hat. The baseball looking one. Wondering who to go with when the time comes.

Found a couple on Ebay but I want to check out the makers here.

Thoughts on these as far as accuracy and if they are reputable people to deal with.

Also wondering who makes good replicas of the Imperial Officers rank badge and Code Cylinder. The dosimeter

Thanks

Re: Imperial Officer's Hat Question

Museum Replicas came on strong some time back, but are they even selling anything now?

I had an offer for blue cap radiation dosimeters from a member here, but quite expensive. So I got a couple of original ones from ebay which are the ones worn by Tagge and Bast, also movie accurate, and for a great price.

The Museum Replicas caps are quite cool, I have both the black and the green/gray one.

Corellian Exports made me a very cool imperial Tarkin rank badge:

Might be worth your while posting a wtb in the junkyard for the dosimeters, i know there's a couple of people on this forum who have found sizeable stashes of them in the past and sold them here maybe someone will be happy to part with some you never know your luck.
I don't know of anyone who has ever made or sold replicas of them, certainly not accurate ones anyway.

Did it. More price checking right now as funds are low:cry

You can get the imperial officers cap at ThinkGeek, but it'll run you $40.

Those are the Museum Replicas one. Thinkgeek resells them.

These are the blue-capped ones in question...

I've seen chalk holders used to make the blue capped ones that looks very nice once placed in the pockets. Here's a good tutorial. Note, they aren't 100% screen accurate, but still look pretty nice.

I've been curious about the quality of the Museum Replicas Imperial Officer costumes as well. I've heard that some of their efforts are better than others (and that some are just terrible) but I haven't seen anything near an informed critique of the make and quality of these particular costumes. I wouldn't expect it to be as nice as something custom made by a good tailor but most of the Imperial Officer costumes I see look and fit like garbage bags.

Didn't know if this might get more attention in the costuming Forum?

Cheers,

Dave

I'll be ordering a full MR officer uniform in the next month or so. I figure it's the cheaper route to finishing the AT-AT commander outfit. I'll provide a review when I get it.

I've heard the caps are okay if you're head fits their sizes. There are some details that are a little off and the lines aren't as crisp as they could be. But that's the difference between a mass produced costume and a tailored fit uniform. In order to truly look Imperial, you absolutely must get it tailored to fit.
