Imperial Guard Helmet

Fellow creators,
I just wanted to share another project that I'm working on right now that's getting close to completion. Currently, I'm in the dreaded filler/primer/sanding stage.

I love it.
I do a lot of my own stuff with that kind of base framing.
You gonna do a run on these?

Thank you much!
I learned that framing method from Volpin Props' blog. It definitely turned this project from overwhelmingly intimidating to quite manageable.
As of right now, I'm making 2 helmets for a couple clients, but am down for selling more.

That looks great, what an impressive build. I have a 501st approved royal guard that I made, but I didn't sculpt the helmet. Yours looks great
Thank you! How did you make yours?

I really like the way chosen to make it. Very nice sculpt.
Will it be casted in resin/ fiberglass, or do you plan to vacuum form it?
Thank you! It will be casted in urethane resin. I was originally going to vacuum form it, that's why in the early stages it looks like two separate pieces front/back, but then decided I'd rather have a casting mold in case I got requests for a lot of them.

Dropping in to give an update on this project. Fixing the defects took a lot longer than I anticipated, but it needs to be perfect before starting the mold! I'm so close to the molding stage it's ridiculous. Just need to sand and prime a few more times, then wax and polish and it'll be ready.
I took a few month long hiatus on this project to do some other projects such as the Steampunk Clock and Steampunk Tables for a theatrical version of Around The World In 80 Days. Gotta check these projects out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
Cheers!

Friends, the mold is complete and I've run my first casting!! The mold is made out of Mold Max 30 and Plasti Paste. The casting is made of Smooth Cast 300. Still need to sort out the visor material (thinking 1/16" smoked polycarbonate) and the paint (thinking auto primer and rustoleum gloss red). Here's a bunch of pics of the final stages of the process. Check out the links below for process and contact information if you're interested.
Cheers!

This project is turning out great.
I also made fiberglass Royal Guard helmets back in the 80's, I pre tinted the gel coat so they would take scuff marks better.
Then had access to the screen used helmets which were vac-formed with the seam running front to back and a red Perspex lens in them.

looks great so far! you ve done a pretty perfect surface. I m exited of how the finished one will look like

This turned out so beautiful my friend.
I am truly envious.

Thank you all! I've been having issues resolving how to get it to the color I want. The options are either pigmented plastic (getting the proper color is an issue with Smooth-On plastics...using Smooth Cast 327) or painting the surface (with surface adhesion and smooth glossy texture being the issue). Also bought 1/8" grey polycarbonate from Tap Plastics for the visor, but seems a little too light. Might have to go with the smoked acrylic. Anyway, that's where I'm at with it. Juggling another major woodworking project at the moment too. Will get back to this helmet hardcore in 1 1/2 weeks!

anybody has the measurements from the highness point to the lowest part in the from view of the helmet ?

Friends, this project is complete!! If anybody would like further information about how it was done, please ask or check out my facebook page where I've kept a better construction record. Also, if anybody wants one, hit me up via email and I'll hook ya up. Cheers!
