Just remember - 5 Vaders at an event looks silly. 5 Royal Guard at an event looks cool.

Is it even possible to give up your 501st membership once you are in?
[/b]
Takes some work, that's true. You need to get your....whatever, leader I guess to request your removal from the member database. A google search will still pop your name up on the engine itself, so I suppose it's somewhat locked in for eternity. Yippee :)

I don't get it, did you leave because you're a SL and thought there were too many?

Whatever the reason, sorry you had to leave :(

Cheers,

Kraig

Im confused, you quit because there are too many Vaders? In my whole province theres 3 active Vaders, and none of us are anywhere near each other and will likely never meet, or is there a "concentration" where you live?

I was in the 501st when I was listed with the UK Garrison in 2001 but I just dissapeared off both sites. Not a problem as I moved away from the UK and didn't troop much anyway. Looks like the UK guys have a lot of fun though :)

Did you just get fed up with the 501st Jumpin Jax?

Cheers Chris.

I for one would love to know how to get out because i am totally fed up with how my local 501st organisation is being run and i want no part in it anymore. :angry

It is completely possible. I did it a couple years ago.

only thing im pissed off with is now its only "cannon", no custom anything, that to me is fricken stupid and ridiculous.. Been a custom fett for several years now, just found out recently

So do something about it, get active and run for your Garrison CO spot. Change it. If you still have a passion for SW and the work the 501st does (volunteer, charity events, etc.), then don't quit just because you're tired of how things are being done, do something about it already. That's no reason to quit.

Kevin, the whole Fett canon thing has been around for a little while now. You can still troop with your custom Fett, just not at 'official 501st events'. Hey, sometimes even those events are restricted to specific costume types, anyways. You still have your TK. :) 118's custom TIE won't be accepted either, but he's okay with that . . . he has other costumes that are canon. Your TK is canon, so why are you so upset?

JJ, you're leaving the 501st because there are too many Vaders? That doesn't make any sense. If you only have one costume, as the other Vaders I assume do, then why don't you schedule and take turns for events? That's how our garrison has been doing it, and we have at least 5 Vaders in my immediate area. That doesn't include all our garrison, just locally. Can you elaborate as to why exactly you're leaving?

One thing I learned about 501st is that you can't change the machine regardless of how active or enthusiastic you are. Once people are in positions of "power" they are in and that is that. They will be protected by the membership unless they have ripped off too many of them, see Scott Hawkins. It has become more of a cult than anything these days.

Don't bother trying to change it. You'll only be disappointed.

I'm the only Vader in my province. :D

Acttually, there are only three of us, as far as I know, with SW costumes in Newfoundland.

JJ lives in Seattle, I would say there are a lot more Vader's there. I know of two for sure.

I dont think JJ was a Vader, I simply think he posted to let us know that he quit the 501st since there has been such an influx recently? Is that about right?

Jim, I realize I still have my TK, the point is why the need to change for how ever long its been these years. I know I can still do events with my custom fett, but its besides the point. They could have just said at official events it has to be cannon, which was done in the past, and kept everything intact without changing the status of it.

since when did this become a 501st soundoff board? I thought it was a costuming forum.

Yeah. There are 4 Vaders in Seattle (That I know of) in the Garrison. Myself, the Garrison Founder, another guy who prefers to wear his Fett, and another who joined at the same time I did, who did a modified rubies.

Sadly, the Garrison founder gets right of first refusal for all events, the rest of us get to fight it out.

Still, I'm having fun when I go to events. :)

Hey Guys, I think JJ was joking. - note the smiley winky face.

Interesting how the Canadian 501st people seem to be responding in this thread. Yeah, we have 3 or 4 vaders in Ontario/quebec that have shown up to a few events together. Not a big deal really (there were 14 or so at CIII) though it might confuse the kiddies.
