Ikea Detolf Shelf Sale

Scored 6! :thumbsup :cool :thumbsup

5 are for me to go with the 2 I already have. The last one is for a friend who couldn't get off work. They were VERY strict about one-per-customer at first so I could only get four, but slacked off later on so my wife and sister were able to get the last two.

It's raining and snowing in DFW, so I'll have to wait for the weather to clear up to paint them. It'll give me some to plan out how I want to rearrange things.

Managed to snag 4 this morning - those things were flying off the shelf. Even though the sign said one per household, Ikea wasn't enforcing it. The guy next to me bought 4 and already had 4 in his trunk.

I managed to snag the very last one.

My mom and I were starting at the "Sold Out" sign, when one of the workers had one on a dolly, and said "here".

Took it to checkout, and it was the wrong color, so after a while the same guy came back with a white one, saying "Hurry up before the people I took it from find out"

Then some people behind us got the one we had, and I think they were falling into the same trap, so we kinda motored out of there, like the commercial... "start the car!"

yeah, I manage dto get one today. The ikea I went to was giving out coupons that needed to be redeemed. they were REALLY strict. The person behind me didn't have a coupon and they made her walk to the front of the store to get one. Kinda ridiculous.

I do wish I could have gotten another, but the lines were insane. I coudln't get anyone to come and snag another for me. I was lucky I got there right when the store opened...otherwise, I would have been waiting for probably more than an hour...

built one of mine last night and I gotta say it's definitely a two man job. These things are heavy!

I picked up two over the holidays in tan at $40 a piece which I still consider a great deal.

I drilled new holes so that the shelves could be adjusted for my lifesize busts.

They look awesome. :love

What holes did you drill? The shelf frames are welded wire. That's the biggest drawback to this design - lack of versatility. I have seen people who welded in new support cross-bars to add more shelves, but that's about the only real mod you can make.

I'd be curious to see pictures of the modifications you made, as I'm always looking to make better use of the space in these cabinets :cool.

I couldn't figure it out either, until i thought about it. He drilled holes in the wood and just made the bars farther apart, I'm guessing. Would still love to see pics.
