Ideas of a "plus size" male costume ?

Hi all,

I am new at this and I want to attend my local Comic-con in a great costume. I still have a lot of months to go and want to learn on the way and end up with something great.

I have a few ideas for my kids ( 5 and 7 ) and my girlfriend ( who is petite and beautiful :love )....

But myself, 5'10" and 240 lbs wearing XXL shirts....what are my options ?

I would like to build something in EVA and I do not mind using the sewing machine.

Seems almost all costume are based on characters tall and slim...:angry...

Any ideas of build ?

Thank you all in advance !

Love the ideas above me, if you are lookin' for a suit of armor costume, Hulk Buster from the comics or the Mark 38 "Igor" from Iron-Man 3. . .

The original comic style or movie style "Cave Suit" Mark I Iron Man. Both styles are pretty bulky and don't have to be form fitting at all. The comic style is fairly simple too!

I agree with ironmaided on the mk 38 would be awesome and doesn't get built enough

I'm about the same size as you and I'm looking at building the Mk 37 iron man also known as Hammerhead/Deep sea suit.
PepCowboy has done a foam unfold for it, it's a really bulky suit with a decent size waist.

I have also looked at the Mk 35 Red Snapper or the Mk 36 Riot control (which is the red snapper suit without the claws and orange) I've always worked on the basis noone wants to see a fat iron man but some of the suits in Iron Man 3 are a bit bigger

Im in the same boat, i went to a con last year as a Fat Joel from Last of Us :D

A Judge outfit from Dredd.

Odin from Thor.

There's loads that would suit it, but do whatever if anyone doesn't like what you're doing, nuts to them! :lol

Doctor Octopus would fit in that range.

I looked at a few videos on Youtube and those wearing this suit cannot move, they are stuck in one corner of the place...

But yes it would look good.

You could go with The Thing from the Fantastic Four

That would be a crazy build :eek...sure looks great...so many parts....maybe a little ambitious for now...

The Mark 38 Igor is really impressive... There is a guy on Youtube building it....sure looks great.

This one is a definite maybe.

Odin is, I think, taking the lead...for now. It looks really good.

Thank you ALL for your inputs,

You really are all helpful .

If you wanted to go scarey you could do Leatherface. Hagred from Harry Potter would work. The bottom line is, do what you want, and what will make you happy. True cosplayers (man, I hate that term.) should not judge you on your weight, or size. We all have a common passion, and love for the hobby. You should be complimented on what you do, not for what you look like. I am 6'3", and 210 lbs., my next costume will be Deathstroke...oh yeah, I'm 68, and just had a pacemaker put in, I plan on being a 70 year old predator. So, go for it brother, and enjoy.
