Ideas for getting correct end cap orientation on Graflex 2.5??

do you think a rubber O ring would do the same?

it will.

its been a 'trick' in the saber scene for many years.
* to be clear.. because an o-ring is rubber and 'squishy', it doesnt technically 'stop where it stops' you have some play on how tight you want it.. along with your alignment.

(same with sanding the threaded 'end' down by a couple swipes on the sand paper)

There are even videos on it! :)

I’ll look for some videos. I’m very scared on on sanding threads :(

Ok so my buddy came by last night, I ran over the options for clocking the kobold back in place. I showed him this spacer idea, talked about the o ring. And ran by my mechanical fix by drilling and tapping. He said “do the tap”

First thing that came to my mind was a dance with loud shoes.. but anyway!

Here is the d ring locked down tight

Need to do a 180, thankfully when turn it back 180* the cap is still inside the tube so it still looks appealing

First thing I did was drilled a 7/64th hole. Very slowly and held the d ring in place. You have to be careful because the d ring can spin still, clocking it in the wrong location, so hold it right. I marked the kobold with pencil mark to see if it moved

Now with the track on top you’ll never see it

6-32 tap commences, I used some grease to help cut the threads but this cut with ease!

Brushed it out, shot it with wd-40 and installed the 6-32 grub screw

Worked like a charm!

Thanks buddy! I like things reversible. It’s not for every body, since, yours is much easier to do it’s more friendly to work with as well

I don’t think everyone will go my route because your route you simply unscrew the cap like normal giving you easy access which I really like

I have to remove the bottom tube, which can be cumbersome.

Just figured I’d post as another option, I was going to grab some o rings today but I couldn’t find ones my size

If I did I was going to post the rubber o ring trick as well

I’ve never done the o ring trick, but have heard good things about it

Glad you fixed your problem!
