What can anyone tell me about this model? How many were made and are they rare?
[/b]

I don't know how many were made,. but...

It appears there is a guy on ebay right now that is selling one in less than perfest condition...AND has tooling with it as well.

I imagine someone will be picking that up to do something with like others have started to.

In the meantime...I believe Scott (cardboard) is almost done with his D7 after having solved some casting issues. He always insists on quality, eh? ;)

I have an ICONS D-7, number 28 of 950. Bought it in like new condition from Entertainment Earth in 1999. The guy on the phone (pre-internet days) told me it was on display in the bosses office but all the original packing was included. It survived shipping with only a slight crack in the plexi case. ICONS plexi cases were notorious for arriving severly cracked. I paid $899 in 1999 for it and have seen them on ebay going from $800 to $1200. That's without the plexi case too. Mine hangs on the wall which solves the display spece issues.

Rare...Yes.
I've heard there are less than 100 that Icons made and released but, there may be more floating around as Icons was stripped of parts and molds by employees that didn't get paid. Same with cases and plaques.

The one on ebay is as the story goes is the ship they molded off of one of the two made by AMT for the show. It was the one submitted to Paramount to get their ok to produce the minature.
