Hey everyone... I want to get into model building. I am looking to do military and sci-fi kits (Star Wars).

WHERE does a boob like me even start looking for the best kits? I really have no idea here and I need some web sites for sources.

Thanks all.
Tim

When it comes to tanks and such Tamiya is typicaly the best. For jets hasegawa. Fine Molds makes the best Star wars kits. Check your hobby stores or try

Hey Tim,

Also don't forget to check ebay for Fine Molds kits. From most sellers, the prices are all comparable so try to find a seller that is closer to you (same country rather than over seas) as shipping should be cheaper.

I just picked up the FM x-wing and tie fighter kits for about $70 shipped (total). I think the prices were something along the lines of $27 and $30 repectively and $13 shipping. The prices were about average for the kits, but the shipping was much cheaper because the seller was in the US as opposed to japan.

YOu want a challenge for your first kit? Get the Fine Molds Falcon. 900 parts.

I would go to the starship modeler store for some really nice resin kits... as well as HLJ for the fine molds stuff. they also carry a large variety of sci-fi and military japanese kits - I've had a lot of good dealings with both places...
