I Question From A New Guy

I am trying to figure out the best way to make a predator mask. I have done some research on it. I know you can make it out of like latex, but I want something that doesn't look super fake when you wear it. What is recommended I use?

depends what you mean ,.....masks are only as good as the sculpt,......it's def worth taking your time on the sculpt,.....do everything needed before molding ,......slip latex and silicone do different things and look different,.....

silicones heavier and harder to paint,.....plus it's slightly more expensive,.....
i'd say start on the sculpt and go thru molding tutorials that way you don't ruin the sculpt and get aggrivated,.....

it's worth taking your time,.....no matter how long it takes,.....
feel free to look around or ask questions buddy

Thanks, sorry if I came off as a jerk. I wasn't really sure what to ask people. For the mold, what time of clay do you recommend? I believe I can get a styrofoam head off ebay to work with.

You can use oil based clay or non-drying clay. Dont use air dry clay because you'll only have the sculpt for like a day until it starts to heavily crack.

Just a few more questions and I should be ready to go.
1. type of paint to use for the mask?
2. what should I use to make the bio mask?
3. How can you make the mouth open, and the outer cheek/mouth open at the same time?
4. How do you make good dreads?
5. What are the metal rings on the dreads made of?

paint, most people i assume use inks, fw seems to be popular there are couple others, look through the huntorial pages there a couple tutorials on how to paint and some ideas on what to paint with

bio mask you make on the same way as your mask but instead of latex you use resin or fibre glass

moveable mandibles (mouth) takes alot of work i asked the same question i signed up on here and well it takes robotics look it up under the search ( animatronic mandibles)

dreads have become a big topis here lately and again look under search you can use backer rods or a expanding foam not the home gap filler stuff

the dread rings are molded like your mask and bio and you can use resin, fibreglass, to make them and paint them as you please

Experimentation and patience is the key. Its all about trial and error, nobody gets it perfect on their first attempt.

Hello and welcome. These questions don't exactly have simple answers, and might require a little research on your part.

ALL of these questions can be answered relatively easily by using the search feature at the top of the page. Good luck.

Good point... I often use google as well and refine search to question to hunters lair brings up everything on the site...ie dreadlocks hunters lair...

Check out other builds and their strategy of approach..im one to talk im into my second Xeno build as its a learning process..

you never know until you ask or learn so ,...

but yea get some clay first of all ,....if you use air-dry just make sure to spray it down every so often and cover it in plastic with a wet paper towel on top of it,....
