Anybody else having problems with these new paints? This 24 hours before a 2nd coat is killng me. Even after 48 hours I'm getting reactions & wrinkling between layers. If I sand out imperfections even after a week it really ct up. Are there any decent paints still out there? I have a piece I've had to strip 4 times now!

I like that Painters choice by rustoleum, good stuff. The aluminum spray paint is great , sprays nice and dries fast.

New Krylon sucks!

I hate everything about it! The spray tips, everything....

You don't mean Fusion do you? Which one? that new H2O one? haven't tried that yet..
I've had mixed results with the Fusion line..
Yeah.. Rustoleum is a good brand..

Did Krylon paint change or just the lids and tips? I haven't had any problems with new Krylon, though I'm buying Satin Black now because Semi-Flat Black is no where to be found.

I bought some recently and had an absolute nightmare with it! Had brutal wrinkling and crackling all over, poor adhesion and eneded up having to sand down and repaint. I used to use Fusion for just about everything, but after this last experiance, I'm off Krylon. The tips are a joke too.

Yeah, what are UP with those things? I'm glad I have some of my old cans. I've been buying rustoleom lately as well.

I noticed their lids have been redesigned to use less plastic and I anticipated they may choose to skimp on the paint as well. Sure enough, I'm finding as well it's not what it used to be. Stinks because it was my old standby. In particular I find their clear matte finish can take months sometimes before it is no longer tacky.

Man, I know what you mean! I found ONE store that still had Semi-Flat Black, and I bought out their stock (which was 9 cans)!

Well.... That explains why the part I tried to paint last night looks like crap when I've never had issues before.

I like the new tips, but if they've changed the paint mix as well, I'm gonna have to find something else.

Krylon is wrinkle city for me so I stopped buying it. Rustoleum or Plastikote are the best spray can brands in my opinion.

Krylon is only good for Graffiti!! Except the yellow. It's too watery.

The ONLY Krylon I ever use for props or custom toys is the Gray Primer. The rest is garbage.

There are a ton of model paints that are excellent like Floquil and Model Master etc. Why use Krylon?

Recently.

They are using a curved cap instead of the old cylinder.

I thought I was the only one hating the change!

Yeah it sucks big time!!

Plasticote it great, but is seems we are all stuck with what HD + LWS is

getting bribed with, or low-balling the vendors to go with.

I've not had a single issue with the "new" Krylon. And it still dries darn nice and quick.

The only thing that used to happen to me in the past was the dreaded wrinkling and cracking, but then I found out you need to stay "within the brand" when painting, meaning if you use Krylon for the top coat, you need to use Krylon for the base (primer) coat too.

I experienced it as well, didn't Krylon and some other paint company merge and revamp all their products? I bet they changed their formula too, cause I used it last summer and its completely sucked. That was with the new can and top design.

I use rustoleum, duplicolor and sems or all my paints now.

Let's call em or send emails - Maybe they could return to making a useful product!

I've given up on this project - I'm using Wal-mart Color Place instead. I just hope my clear coat doesn't react!

I agree. I've been having problems with the new stuff too, especially the satin white. I found I was only able to apply it using an airbrush, and even then it took multiple coats carefully dusted on. I used to be able to put it on straight from the can, but that just doesn't work with the new stuff.

As for the hobby paint scenario, yes, that'd be great if there was a place that sold the stuff in my area. The nearest hobby shop is an hour's drive away and boy is that **** ever freakin' expensive. I always liked Tamiya acrylics, but they made the bottles smaller and trippled the price! :cry

No problems with the "new" Krylon for me. I only paint with spay cans and try to always use Krylon.
Never had any issues that did not end up being problems with my prep work:lol
