I want to cut a 45 degree beveled frame opening in some .125” styrene. Like the matting in a framed picture. I could use a knife, file, and/or and paper, but I would like to try to get a clean smooth and professional cut.
I’ve used matte cutters before and they seem to work great for thick cardboard and matte board. Before I drop some $ on one just to find out it would not work on .125” styrene I wanted to ask if anyone else has a better solution. I thought that if I strait cut the opening to within 1/8” of the final beveled edge using a matte cutter would work for the final 45 degree cut.
I though also of using a jigged router, but the opening is pretty small (approx 3” to a side), and the vibrations would not leave me a good smooth edge.
