How do I set up a looped video on a display monitor?

I’d like to set it up a monitor to show an Enterprise style graphic video, not necessarily with sound. The problem is I have NO idea how to go about doing it, nor do I have the ability to make such a video. I can make still frame graphics with Illustrator but that’s about it.

Can anyone explain to me how I could easily create a video like this and how to go about making the monitor display it?

Here’s the Ideal set up:

  1. No massive computer control-small, simple, easy to hide and manipulate video device.
  2. Essentially flip a switch and the video and monitor starts.
  3. The video loops until I shut it off.

2nd best

  1. No massive computer control-small, simple, easy to hide and manipulate video device.
  2. Turn on the monitor.
  3. Flip a switch and the video starts.
  4. The video loops until I shut it off.

3rd best

  1. Boot up some kind of super simple and inexpensive computer with no need for keyboards or a mouse.
  2. Turn on the monitor.
  3. The video loops until I shut it off.

4th best

  1. Boot up some kind of super simple computer or MP3 video device .
  2. Turn on the monitor.
  3. Using a mouse or keyboard, start the video, which loops until I shut it off.

BTW - I have an old Zen Vision:M MP3 player that can do video. Could I find an AV out to monitor cable and just use that? (Provided I can get my hands on an Enterprise video graphic.)

My Zen has an A/V out. I wonder if there is an A/V out to 15-pin connector cable out there?

I may just go with a flat screen LCD TV at this point so I can use my Zen to run the video.

Have you checked out the Star Trek System 47 LCARS Screen savers?

I have one on my computer. It's perfect, complete with sound effects.

Another option is to use powerpoint.

Specially authored DVD could do it. Turn the system on, and the disk is authored to autoplay and loop at the end of the "Chapter." Anyone with Adobe Encore or DVD Studio Pro could do it for you.

How about this? (Thanks to j.anderson on lcars.com for this lead)

So if I use these two cables and my A/V OUT jack on the bottom of the MP3 player jack, I can send a looped video of graphics (maybe with sound) to an AVG Monitor?
