How do I duplicate this?

I made this out of plasticine and milliput for my girlfriends Zam Wessel outfit

I want to sharpen up the edges on it etc and want to cast this in something that's hard. I will then use that as the master if I plan to make more.

What's my best way of tackling this?

I thought of making a latex mould by pouring etc then cutting it open and making a resin version that I can sharpen up and file etc.

The plasticine has hardened quite considerably to be honest. Whilst she's fine with me just that I'm not. I'd rather a solid replica

If your only making a few, then making a simple mold is the way to go.Put some clay on a tile or piece of plexi, stand the piece on the clay, make a dam around it so that it is above the piece at leat 1/2" pour your silicone slowly so as not to knock the piece off the clay which will become your pour hole. After it cures, slice through the lenght, pull your master, bind your mold and pour your resin. If you want a better, longer lasting mold,do a two part mold.Check this site for info.Alexander

Ok thanks

I've just bought some silicon and 2 types of wax. One for my first cast and sharpening up. Green and Blue. Not sure of the differences but was advised on setting temps and abilty of sharpness
I've then bought some resin to make a few copies

Thanks for the tip on the moulding I guess I'll support this on the underside where there's no or little detail....?

Yes,you want to put the pour hole where there is the least detail. What are the waxs for?Are they a barrier/mold release between the piece and the silicone?I use a spray mold release.Alexander

No the wax is for me to make a prototype, sharpen it up then mould that and then produce a few more.

I've got a plasticene master, which I'll mould. then make a wax version. Sharpen it up then produce a mould from that. From that I plan to make a few more.

I had to ask as I've never done it before. Should be fun
