Holy Batpole Robin! ....... 1966 TV Batman style Batpole

Great idea! know where I could find some good images of it?
I really wanted to include a full modern Batman costume hanging in an inset cavity in the wall where you landed at the bottom (probably behind glass) and all lit up but space was too tight to add that much more area plus costs were already evil on the entire build!

I was able to find this one, but it's not a great image--http://i54.tinypic.com/x6m37.png
I think they had some good shots in the movie. I'll see if I can figure out a way to screen cap it from Netflix.

MattyJ...you are my hero. My buddy has a screening room above a large garage...holds 5 I think, but point is, he's got the firepole as well, not as awesome as yours. I've been trying to convince him to build a Barris Batmobile, because it feels like a waste without one. Heck even an Ecto-1 would work!
Your pictures are just tremendous. I think you could get a beer or two from anyone on this board.

Aside from the fun factor and the craftsmanship, I think the thing I appreciate most about this is that it isn't a replication of the 1966 set. It's easily recognizable, but you've made it your own. Nicely done! (y)thumbsup

Very cool! You could use an electronic actuator to open the door...they are us on custom cars to open trunks a lot

Hey MattyJ, here's the best I could come up with for ya. Not hi-res by any means, but they should be somewhat useful. Also added in a pic of the "Compressed Stream Batpole Lift" box that sits at the bottom of the pole, and the "Access to Batcave" lettering at the top (that, in my opinion, would be a pretty sweet little detail).

Just watched the video (again, so awesome), and got to thinking about this--

When the button is pushed it activates a mag lock door keeper release for approx 20 seconds.
I'd like the shelving (that is actually a secret door) to "pop" open a bit when I do this but I haven't managed to work out how yet.
Car door poppers work with the door under pressure to open but if you apply pressure to the latch the door will not release as the latch is pushing against the release. Any ideas appreciate :)

Is there any way you could secure in a couple of small springs here and here?

Wouldn't have to be anything huge, just something with enough tension to put pressure against the door so when the maglock released, they'd pop the door a bit. Something to think on, anyhow. :)

This is incredible! Fantastic job! I want one of these in my bedroom going to my garage. If only it could change me from my pajamas to work clothes it would be perfect.

Thanks man. I do like the sound of the Barris Batmobile or Ecto-1... If its any consolation the batpole does lead down to a DeLorean and a KITT replica but I would LOVE to have a Barris Batmobile replica... too many wants not enough $$$$ (SIGH)

Hi, Thanks for your awesome photos and spring suggestion. I kind of mucked up on my description. The lock is a magnet type, its a latch release type (as seen in the video). The problem is that as soon as you put pressure back against the latch (i.e. via suggested springs) the latch will not release. You have to push on the door to take the pressure off it for the latch to move. It was just a bad decision to run with this lock type but I had to go with this to add it into the automation (sounded like a good idea at the time but I've never hooked it up to the automation system in the 4 years its been in!). I'm thinking of trying a car door central locking actuator to push the door open after the lock releases but I doubt it will be grunty enough. They are cheap as on Ebay though so might be worth trying and if it doesn't work $10 is not a bad loss...

My next project will be to make the costume change switch and if room, the steam lift switches..
The sign on the inside wall is nice and easy.... I can't wait until payday now (insert evil laugh here)...

Thanks for the idea. I'm going to give this a try.... The door poppers have the grunt but they actually pull not push but as you say the actuators used in central locking DO push so fingers crossed they have enough grunt. The really good thing about many options available for these is they come with remotes so nice and easy to much around with :)

Awesome work!

Speaking as an architect, I can't really describe how just insanely cool it would be for a client to come to me with a request like that!

Looking good! I always wondered what Bruce would have said if Dick was to ride his pole...no wait...that came out wrong...

:thumbsup for batpole! :lol

That's another one of those "little" details that always made me laugh--the fact that each of their Batpoles was placarded with their names, like they couldn't remember, "Yours is on the left, mine is on the right."

For those of you tittering at the unintentional double-entendre in the above statement...you're welcome. :D
