Highlander Duncan Katana tsuba

The tsuba on the sword of the dragon used by Duncan is called the Phoenix but they are Japanese Onagadori birds that have 4-6 foot long tails. You see many cheap alloy tsubas sold on ebay and alliexpress for $20 but the hilt for the season 1-2 was not mass produced. Season 3-6 SOTD is still made by Marto seling for $250. with a stainless steel blade. I have one and its no wall hanger but the blade is not made for cutting. It took me some time and lots of work learning to mount swords but I have some good ones now with 1095-T-10 and L-6 high carbon steel blades.
Who made you the Season One?

The Highlander sword used in season one and most of two was made by Sal D Aquila who started Point Gallery. Sal passed away but his work is kept alive and only sold at Point Gallery. They make a nice season one katana or you can choose the Musashi. The Musashi is Sals refined sculpt and you can choose the blade type and steel but I feel the price is extremely high. $1000-1800. for a new Season One katana. According to a former staff member, they buy blades for $100 and use $25 in resin witha basic tsuba and saya . The tang is permanently epoxyed to the hilt so If the tsuba or habaki ever get loose there is no way to repair of clean the entire blade. I have a Season One and Musashi made by PG but I got them preowned for a fraction of their price. I would check them out anyway since they are the only ones and ask if they will mount a S1 on one of your blades
