Hi. I'm Steve. I'm another Shadowdale Creations rip-off victim.

My name is Mark Compton.

I perform Consumer Consultations. Basically I deal with your Customer Service BS for you.

If you want to deal with Shadowdale creations, my recommendation to you is to make your emails very professional, and laced with the threat of reprisal.

I contacted them on behalf of a friend of mine who had ordered in November of 2011. My first email to them was on April 17th. I gave them a deadline of May 18th to deliver the product that was purchased.

As of today we have a tracking number with a USPS estimated delivery date of May 17th.

They can be dealt with, its all in how you do it.

While five months isn't necessarily an extreme time to wait for a well made costume, they should A) have given you a estimate on how long it would take, and B) COMMUNICATE! It sounds like they did neither.

This! Having done commissions in the past, I know that keeping up a good communication basis with your clients is key. If any, ANY complaints have been made about a certain company, I'd take my business elsewhere.

Also, it should never take that long to make certain costumes, unless you're backed up. If you're that backed up, you give your customer a time span. If you never received a time span, that's a huge red flag to start off with.

I had fallen prey to Shadowdale. Placed an order that totaled about $1420. I ordered 2 star trek nemesis uniforms and 2 Trek Insurrection Dress unifomrms. They kept giving me promise date after promise date . It took about 2 years to get the 2 Nemesis uniforms. When I did get them , mine was in the wrong fabric and the wrong size( it was made with my friends measurements). They said I could send them back and get them redone. I even made a quick sketch with the measurements and color coded them witht the division color so they couldn't mix them up.
I've sent numerous emails to them both nice ones and harsh one. I've repeatedly told them I'm going to take legal action but would rather come to some kind of resolution. Never recieved a reply nor the Insurrection uniforns plus now don't have the Nemesis uniforms either.
How they are still able to keep their website open is beyond me. To top it off they've even raised their prices on their uniforms since I've ordered mine. That was about 4 years ago. Guess even scammers need to raise their prices in todays economy, lol. I made a complaint to the BBB but they never heard back from Shadowdale and said they made note of it but sorry can't help any more. I've kept every email evey sent and recieved from them. My paypal has the transactions listed and I did use my credit card but I doubt theey'd do anything about it.
Really sucks but lesson learned. Wish I could take them to Judge Judy, lol.

Hi Mark, thanks for the advice. You are right and I only sent them one nasty email. I try to be civil at all times.

So you help people like us huh? I wonder if you could go to bat for me? My email is: fancynancyincorporated@gmail.com

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello from Germany,

seems that we (a group of 3 persons) could be the next victims of Shadowdale Creations.
We ordered some time ago, and finally we received the Star Trek Nemesis replikas today. Communications with them were hard and very unfriendly, they ofter do not answer or, if they answer, with only 1 or 2 rows.
Promised delivery date was 10th of May, but in this special case it was not up to them (german customs kept it a few days).

But, and this is what I did NOT expect, it seems that all uniforms are of the wrong size. Trowsers are to short and the other parts are also not fit the size they should have.

I will keep you posted after getting in contact with them... - again...

Sad to say but I doubt your experiance with them is over

Get your friends money back as the costumes will be either the wrong size or shoddily made

I have also fallen foul of this website and I am now down $550 (£360) no communication followed by short one line replies saying it will be started "soon" even though quoted start date was over 6 weeks ago, wish I had found out more before ordering and paying the reviews i did find beforehand were all quite positive :( Curses!

I remember Shadow Dale creations. Angel was the one who made it work. When she stopped working due to heath issues, that Steve guy took over (not the one who started the thread, a different Steve). Long story short, order placed in 2005, paid $350. Merchandise never received.

Well it's been about 2 years since my last post, and I honestly thought I would never have any good news to ever report. Well folks, after 3 AND A HALF YEARS the unthinkable happened...out of the blue I came home to a package on my front porch. "Funny" I thought, as I didn't remember ordering anything lately. Then I picked up the package and saw the letters SDC. It took me about 5 seconds and then my heart rate skyrocketed. "No way" I thought. No way. WAY. Sure enough there it was, my Battlestar Galactica Commander's Uniform. Despite putting on 15 pounds in the last 3 years (having kids does that), the thing still fits.I am actually pretty impressed. The quality is pretty darn good. I snapped a few pics: uniform side.jpg From the side.

left shoulder.jpg Looks pretty authentic, although the red trim around the neck and down the front doesn't seem to be the right shade of red. Oh well, small beef.

full body shot.jpg Time to loose the kid poundage by comic con time! I give it a 8.5/10. Though I'm pissed it took 3 and half years to get here (and WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN) I'm happy I finally have it and it doesn't suck.

Now for anyone seeking more information on the company. I snapped the following pics of the box. If anyone is planning a Seal Team 6 raid on Shadow Dale Creations, hopefully this will help you find them. :)

I know this Steve guy lives in New York, but the thought occurs he might drive an extra few miles to another post office to throw people off. Who knows. But to anyone who hasn't yet gotten what they ordered I wish you the best of luck. Let me know if anyone has any further questions if I can help in any way.

Almost forgot. Here is the tracking number on the box: 9114 9011 2308 6659 7924 09. USPS of course.

I'm so glad I just read this thread... I was just about to order a costume from the guy... I'm sorry to hear all of the horror stories. When it sounds to good to be true it usually is. On another note does anyone know where to find an authentic looking Star Trek costume Voyager or Nemesis???

Look at Anovos.com.

Anybody know what "Steve's" last name is? There was a guy who used to go by the name Budget Quartermaster name of Steve Clellan, Took me for $550 dollars for some Klingon stuff back in the 90s. apparently he was big in to the SCA like this guy as well. Last Id heard he was in NY. Wondering if this is the same guy.

Ah yes, Steve Clellan, "Keve the Budget Quartermaster". That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Funny guy, big into the Sub-genius stuff. He had some nice pieces and prices, shame he pulled a Lon Chaney (anyone still understand that term?). He was well known in the Klingon fan community back in the 90's and when he moved, that was the last I heard of him. He moved to Buffalo NY, but could have moved since then. If you are asking about Steve from Shadowdale, I thought his name was Steve Sorton. I have never dealt with him, but have heard the reputation.

Over 10 years later but this thread came back to mind after suiting up in my BSG uniform the other day. Leaving a comment just for nostalgia's sake.

Shadowdale's website is NO MORE. Domain is available for sale. "Steve"...wherever you are, good riddance.
