Hi. I'm Steve. I'm another Shadowdale Creations rip-off victim.

I ordered my Captain Marvel costume for $700 in February of 2009. Sixteen months later--no costume, no more replies to emails.

This is an old story here, I see, but does anyone have any new news or advice on getting a refund?

File a claim with the Better Business Bureau. That's what I did. I don't know if it did any good, but I did eventually get what I ordered. Good luck.

How exactly do I do that? What BBB did you contact? SDC is supposedly located in NY's Hudson River Valley. Can you give me a link? Thanks for your reply, by the way. It's really a shame that SDC isn't legit. All my life (I'm 43) I've dreamed of having a really great super hero costume. When I saw the photos of the Tom Tyler Captain Marvel they supposedly did, I thought I'd found someone who could fulfill those dreams. I already had boots made to go with it. They don't go with any of my other outfits! Were you satisfied with what you got when you finally got it?

I don't have any address info. If I did, I'd have descended upon the place from a black helicopter long ago. Anybody else got any address info? Thanks for the link, though.

Did you use a credit card to send payment? If so I can possibly help you out. I work credit card disputes for a large credit card company and can give you some advise on how to get your money back. Shoot me a PM if interested.

Sorry... Found this on a now shut down board..

This guy is registered with deviantART as "LordIronWulf" and posted to his gallery as recently as May 30 of this year.

His real name is believed to be Steven, but I don't have a last name. No address or telephone number either, but current residence listed as Hudson Valley, NY.

He also has gone by the alias "GeneralMayhem" on various message boards but I haven't seen any recent posts anywhere.

Enom is the registrar of the domain name. JustHost Web and Backup Services is the hosting company. But that is probably not the best way to find info about this 'business'.

Not sure if this is current, but here is some info I found:

Steven Sorton and Angel Addams
Shadow Dale Creations
204A Freetown Hwy
Wallkill, NY 12589

I'm glad to know about this...I bought a Mustafar broach and pin set from them and had tossed around the idea of one of their new metal ones since my old resin one is in pieces now. They were pretty reliable when I bought from them but that was like back in the day buffet. I guess 4 years ago they were operating differently. I think I'll just stick to making my own and casting it now, thanks for the heads up...

I got a Imperial officer hat from them Took 6 months and was about 3 sizes to big and the top of the hat stood up like a cone. POS Got my money back after called my CC. And I still had the hat. They never asked for it back. Took pics of it after I used it to collect my dogs Cr@p from the yard and emailed it to them. Said this is what I is best used for.

A garrison mate of mine waited 16mths before he got his officer uniform.

sorry that this Happened to you.

I don't have any address info. If I did, I'd have descended upon the place from a black helicopter long ago. Anybody else got any address info? Thanks for the link, though.

I'll pm you where he likes to have payment sent. It's a PO box, and he may not even be using it anymore, but it's all I've got.

I got Boromir's horn. It looks fantastic, but everytime I look at it I remember what a pain in the butt it was to get. I think it took about year and a half for me to receive it. The thread's probably around here somewhere.

For BBB I think I used the Wallkill address first. Once I got the PO box I emailed BBB with that info and I think they sent another letter because the horn showed up soon after. Then BBB wanted to follow up because he provided them with shipping info and BBB wanted to make sure that I did get the product.

Yeah they are just hit or miss....I did get the metal Mustafar brooch set from them a while ago but I also got a metal TPM Battle buckle that only took 6 weeks(GASP!!) but the Padme Pilot buckle I ordered in January and STILL have not gotten it. They also took 9 months to make me new metal Padme armbands(but damn they look good!) Their quality is very good but their timeliness SUCKS. That is their MO though, they stop answering you when you inquire about stuff which also sucks.

Thank you so much for the excellent, helpful replies. Here's an email I just sent SDC. We'll see if it helps…

After reading many posts about Shadow Dale Creations, it looks like you guys are a legitimate business but are hopelessly swamped with more orders than you can fill. Talk to me. I’ve heard that while you usually do excellent work, you sometimes send really horrible stuff out, presumably because you’re so rushed. Can you make the Captain Marvel suit I ordered 16 months ago? Do you intend to make it? When?

I’d much rather get the suit from you than a refund, provided you deliver the quality you’re capable of. I’m considering contacting the Better Business Bureau and the NY attorney general since I’m not getting any replies from you lately. Is this your address?

Steven Sorton and Angel Addams
Shadow Dale Creations
204A Freetown Hwy
Wallkill, NY 12589

And this?

Shadow Dale Creations
PO Box 822
Plattekill, NY 12568

Please talk to me. I’d much prefer to end up being one of your many satisfied customers. Let’s work together to make that happen.

Thanks,
Steve McNutt

Steve you need to cut and run.

Ask for your Money back as he will probably string you along.

Hi folks! Bad luck for me that I visited this threat to late! I ordered a full suit of Star Trek uniforms (Insurrection Gala and Duty) for me and a friend of mine back in mid December 2010. I told them that I need these uniforms on the 18th of March 2011 (there will be a Star Trek Convention). They asured me that it wont be a problem to deliver before this date. Everything seemed fine but two weeks ago I sent them an email to ask if they can deliver until the dead line. It took nearly 1 week to get a respond, where they just said that "the items are in production and will be shipped soon." One week ago I wrote them again to ask if it is possible to send the uniforms today, because it will take about 3 days until they arrive and I want to play it save! No answer until now! This behaviour reminds of the earlier posts in this threat. I hope I will hold the unifoms in my hands next friday but I somehow doubt it.

@stephenmcnutt: Did you get any answer on that mail?

Can anybody tell me why Shadow Duchess and GeneralMayhem werre banned?

Hi, I'm Andrew...yet ANOTHER Shadowdale creations rip-off victim!

Well BenjaminG it looks like we are in the same boat. I didn't see this page either until it was 2 months too late (2 months after I ordered my costume). I actually e-mailed Shadowdale before I ordered my costume. This was the beginning of September, 2010. I asked if it was too late to order a costume by Halloween. My message was replied to in a matter of hours assuring me that they were taking orders for Halloween deliveries. I promptly ordered a Battlestar Galactica Commander’s Variant Uniform in high hopes that I would be the talk of the town at a Halloween party hundreds of people would be attending. Boy was I wrong. Halloween came and went with me not going anywhere, because no costume ever showed up.

I was mad and e-mailed the company the very next day demanding an explanation. This time it took about 3 days for a response. I was assured that my costume was in the final stages of production and would be shipped soon. Okay I thought, at least I’ll have for next Halloween. But the weeks kept on dragging. November passed and I sent another e-mail asking for pictures of my costume. No response. 2011 came and still no costume. I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of New York in February. They told me that they constantly tried to contact the company but with no success. Since they couldn’t do anything more after 5-6 weeks passed, they closed my case. There’s $450 I will probably never see again.

I e-mailed this “Steve Sorton” just the other day and even gave him my phone number. Still no response as of today. I have even tried to find this guy’s info and phone number. I found a land line on White Pages of Wallkill, New York but when I try calling it an automated voice tells me that the number is out of service. Great, on top of shady buisness dealings the guys appears to be a recluse.

@StevemcnuttL: I too am curious if you ever got a response to that e-mail.

@ BenjaminG: As for why they were banned I am unsure. But I would love to fly out to this address in Wallkill and track the guy down so I can just talk to him. I work for a small business and this is no way to treat people that shell out this kind of money for costumes. Did you ever get the Star Trek costumes?

hi andydrew!

Still no uniform until now! I gave him a new deadline; 15th of April! If they do not deliver until then I (the credit card company)
have the possibility of withdraw my money from their bank-account. This is what I will do! Further I will send a complaint to the bbb as well as the US postal inspection for mail fraud. Maybe I will also contact my laywer for further steps! Because I'm from Europe, it's hard for me to visit this guy, but I would much like to join you. I will contact you about the development of this case!
