Hi. I'm Steve. I'm another Shadowdale Creations rip-off victim.

someone on another forum, who was also ripped off by this individual, asked me to post this here on their behalf in regards to this thread:

If they call this number and make a complaint with them and say they need the city and state info of this company and name of the owner they will likely turn it over to their fraud department and then call the local police in their towns or cities and make a fraud report and pass this same info on a warrant will be issued for the records of the business owner and then a warrant will be issued for the arrest of the owner.

The crime is over $500 dollars and that makes it a felony charge and if several people in several states make complaints they will have multiple warrants and by the time the courts are done with them they will have federal fraud charges.

Hope this helps you guys.

You shouldn't cut him any slack. Do it now and spread the word. Give up any fantasy that you'll get the costume and face reality. Be a real life superhero and get the bad guy.

A few years I was going to order a ST costume form them but if it wasn't for my membership here at RPF I would have never known. I am glad RPFers watch their own!

You could start first with their domain register and have their website shut down.

eNom - about us - domain names and services - ABOUT US

Their DNS is hosted by PipeDNS. You could contact them regarding their fraudulent behavior and put an end to their DNS hosting.

Pipe DNS

You could contact their website hosting company and explain to them their fraudulent behavior and have their web hosting ended.

Complete Legal Documents

Just a few ways to start working backwards from where their orders and problems begin.

Again consumer safety and privacy is their web partners policy so if anything is violated by the companies you will have an investigation.

Can anybody tell me why Shadow Duchess and GeneralMayhem werre banned?

From the ban log:

General Mayhem and Shadow Duchess have been banned for a continuing pattern of taking costume and prop orders and not fulfiling those orders or making refunds.

In short, they were banned for the same behavior seen in this thread.

Well all that is interesting. I guess the reason they were banned does not surprise me in the least. I'm gonna see how far I can take this thing. The problem is my order was just under $500 so I don't think it will qualify for the felony charge.

Thank you STEALTH and Capt_Jack_Savvy. Those are all excellent pieces of information for me to use. If I or someone else could get this guy’s website shut down that would prevent anyone else from getting screwed. I’m going to see what I can do. Will post an update when I have one. Thanks BenjaminG for keeping me updated.

you guys may also want to get in touch with your states' attorney generals and file a fraud complaint with them. They eat this stuff up.

Well the BBB you'll want to contact is in Ulster County, NY. Home - New York BBB The reason your probably getting those two addresses is that some areas don't have delivery out there so they have a physical address so emergency services can get to them and a PO box for mail.

I've also just filed a complaint at the IC3.

I really hope it will end this debacle once and for all since I'm waiting for my Classic Cylon undersuit I've ordered from them for OVER A YEAR now!!! :cry

Jeez,
I was seriously planning on buying a Fullmetal Alchemist costume from them in the near future...glad you guys are here to help will shy away :(

Help with Shadow Dale Creations

I apologize for being yet another dissatisfied customer of the infamous Shadow Dale Creations. I've been desperate for a way to resolve this issue for a long time, and several other sites told me that members have had success asking for help here, so I hope you will be able to help me. Here's my story.

I ordered a Dr. Horrible costume from Shadow Dale Creations on December 2, 2008. I had read through their site thoroughly and knew that I wouldn't be getting the costume immediately. I really just wanted it for the following September, so I figured a good 9-10 months was plenty of time to give them. I was patient.

On February 3, 2009 (two months after I sent them the order and the payment), I emailed them: "Hi! I placed an order for a Dr. Horrible costume a few months ago. I was just wondering if there's any way to check up on the progress or get a general idea when it will arrive." By the following day, I had received the response: "All orders in queue are being completed in turn. Your order is scheduled to be completed shortly." I was hopeful and relieved at this news.

I decided to give them a few months, since they told me they were getting to it "shortly" back in February. But by October I was frustrated again, having heard nothing and received nothing. On October 3, 2009 (now ten months after I placed the order), I wrote: "I placed an order for a Dr. Horrible costume last year (December 2, 2008). I promise I won't bother you weekly for a status update; I would just like to request an estimate for when my order will be processed and/or if you are booked and will not be getting to it soon. I appreciate your time and any information you can give me." This time, I did not receive a response.

I began looking into their company by this point, and I read several forums and websites warning against doing business with them, many claims of scams, and general bad publicity to their name. Now I was getting worried that the whole thing was a scam from the start, and I was angry at myself. Why didn't I look into this further before sending them $215?

I read several testimonies that customers were able to get refunds for their unfilled orders. I decided to contact Shadow Dale again with my own request for a refund. On January 20, 2010, I wrote: "Over a year ago, I placed an order for a $215 Dr. Horrible costume. I have been patient and in the last year have only written twice to request a progress update, for which I received no response. If you cannot honor my order, I would like a full refund." Again, they failed to respond to me.

By spring, I was fed up. On April 5, 2010, I wrote one last time: "I ordered a Dr. Horrible costume almost two years ago. I would like to cancel my order and have my $215 refunded via PayPal." When I didn't hear back yet again, I filed a complaint with PayPal. The dispute was closed and my money never refunded. I tried re-opening the claim, but PayPal will not re-open claims that are closed, and I cannot file a new claim for the same transaction ID.

I'm at a complete loss for what to do. I can't get in touch with Shadow Dale directly, and PayPal won't help me. I'm hoping the users here, who I know have dealt with more backlash from this company than I'm sure they'd care to, can help me with what to do. It's been two and a half years, and I can't imagine they're still planning to honor my order.

Please help. :cry

Why did Paypal close your complaint? I know they do it after a certain amount of time passes, but not if the seller doesn't answer the complaint?

I'm not sure. I assume because they automatically close claims after a certain amount of time, and I did file this claim last April. I never received any notifications about them closing it, when, or why, so I can't be sure. All I know is that they will not re-open it or let me file a new one. :(

Well that's lame on their part. Have you tried contacting Paypal's customer service about the situation?

Yep, they told me that they "will not investigate issues filed after the 45 days timeframe." Which is absurd because I wasn't expecting the product to arrive within 45 days in the first place. They said they'll flag the seller's PayPal account for future activity, which doesn't really help me.

I'm hving issues with SDC. I ordered my Full Metal Alchemist Alphonse Armor costume. Total of 1300. It was paid off completely on the beginning of March 2011. 5 months later still nothing. I've already missed all my cons this year.

I sent a few email about having my costume ready by HALLOWEEN but no reply. Are these guys really going to rip me off 1300? I did loose my job last month.Honestly, this order is starting to turn this smile upside down.

What can I do?!?!?!?

While five months isn't necessarily an extreme time to wait for a well made costume, they should A) have given you a estimate on how long it would take, and B) COMMUNICATE! It sounds like they did neither.

Ok I see these type of complaints all the time and I have to pass on some information to ANYONE using a credit or debit card to purchase over the internet, phone, etc. I deal with issues such as this every day in my job, work for a processor of MC/VS transactions. File a chargeback complaint with your credit card company as soon as you have any issues with a company. Even if it is thru paypal, a charge back complaint can get your money refunded to you quicker than arguing on the phone with the merchant. Make sure you have all your info in front of you before you call and be prepared to fax any documents they may need. It is worth it.

Hope that helps.

End of the line

Well it's been nearly 2 years since I ordered my Battlestar Galactica Uniform. Many unanswered emails leads me to believe I will never hear another peep from this guy again. And no money or costume will be seen. The BBB was no help at all and I had no luck following those other links. So that is that. Lesson learned over a loss of $500. Can't wait until the afterlife when I can have a nice long conversation with this cheat.
