Hero Phaser Scratchbuild

I've been trying to work out a way to do these castings without getting bubbles. The epoxy/glass mixture is very thick and the bubbles can't escape. If I'm very careful how I spread it into the mold, sometimes it comes out OK sometimes not. It's not too bad, just a few pits in the surface, but I'd like to avoid it.

I'll be starting the new P2 master soon.

Thanks guys! I've been having some problems with this, for some reason both the epoxy and resin is sticking to the silicone pulling out chunks of it. I don't know why, and I don't have time to work it out now.

I have P1 shells ready, and a P2 coming from another maker. I'll finish up the Western Costume build, then get back to the mold problem.

That is truely amazing work, amazing work indeed Sir!
Huge Trek Original series fan here.

Love the Phaser!

I'm not adding anything no, other than what the original props had. They can certainly be added though.

Thanks guys!

I've been working on the clear sight and meter dome parts. Cut from acrylic rod, but I have to sand it by hand because power sanders run too fast and melt it. I made a jig to keep the ends square while sanding.

This jig will be a guide for drilling the axle holes in the sights.

The axle mount for the thumb wheel, not authentic but it's easy to build and it works.

Also made the brass sight hood.

And got started on the handle. I cut three handles to length with a tube cutter.

Ehhh... I don't think it's working, Rob. Better start from scratch. You can send what you have so far to me... just so it doesn't go to waste... I'll pay the postage... :rolleyes:love
