Gone but not forgotten.
So, I ordered a Dark Shadows Barnabus print from ebay and just got her in the mail today and it looks like this....

Needless to say I am not very happy - This thing ran me a few bucks and it is a gift that is due NOW (it took longer than expected to get here - I've already bought all the time I can and I'd still need to get it framed. Now, I know there is the whole send it back route - but I'm wondering if there is a way I can save the time and repair the wrinkles -- not sure about the scrapes... but they are mostly in the black areas... not that I can mask them any easier, but I'm trying to keep an optimistic view.

A frame shop should be able to stretch this over a frame then you might get most of them out. Then in time you may need to re-stretch it. As for the scrapes an air brush should take care of those. Hope this helps

Is that acrylic or oil? If it is oil, demand a refund. If it is acrylic and it was painted several weeks before you recieved it, you're ok.

I build my own stretchers and wrap my own canvas. You can have it mounted on a set of stretcher bars and then have it re-stretched after several months. Canvas will give over time anyway. You can lay it out for a while.

Nevermind.. kdawg1 beat me to it.

Cheers,

JM

Sorry that happened to you. Meantime, could you post an overall shot of the portrait? I'm wondering how accurate it is to the original TV painting--I'm thinking about getting one myself. Thanks,

If you can have it stretched over a wooden frame, that will make it tight as a drum and hopefully wrinkle-free.

I don't think ironing it will help this time unfortunately.

Yes, have it stretched on a wooden stretcher frame and the wrinkles will be gone in a day or two. As to the cracks and white spots, again, if it is an oil painting, you need to get your money back. Acryllic can be touched up by someone who really knows what they are doing, but it will cost you, and I"m not sure you should have to pay for it, considering the piece should have been shipped better.
