Help guy's. I'm working on a 1962 Alfa Romeo made by Tron. It's a Christmas Gift for my dad who used to own one. Well, i messed up and need to strip it.

I used Tamiya spray paint. Red over the whole body and black over that for the interior. The problem i have is the Master Mask is not coming off. I applied it too thin. The red paint is coming off as i try and remove the mask with my finger nail.

So.. How do you strip the whole model w/o messing up the resin.

Thank you.

Castrol Super Clean, a.k.a. Purple Power, can soften some resins. Dawn Power Dissolver is a good product and safer, but sometimes requires two or three applications before it removes all of the paint. Either way, be sure to wear rubber gloves and some form of eye protection when you're using these products.

Question: Did you clean and primer the kit prior to painting? Regardless of what you used for masking, the fact that the paint is coming off indicates it's not bonding to the resin properly, which could mean there is still some mold release on the resin.

I was recently hipped to Westley's Bleche-Wite... it's amazing stuff for resin, and will strip away paint, as well as remove aggressive mold release residue.

Thanks guys. Having Simple Green around i have had the parts soaking in that all day. Paint chips off easy right now but still would be alot of work to remove.. Hopfully by tomorrow it comes of easy otherwise i will be out getting one of the other products suggested.

Follow up on my paint coming off problem. I did not prim the model. The paint is not coming off like their was mold release. (Learned that lesson well painting my R2 parts) Just as i was trying to scrap/peal the masking off i would dig into the paint and scrape it off too. Do not think i have a paint issue, just poor application of the masking, up agains a deadline and it has been a long time since i painted a car.

Thanks again. Will post a picture if things work out.

Mission accomplished. Thank you guy's. Started with Simple Green and Purple Power but they were not cutting the paint very well. Just softened it a bit. Switched to Gunk Engine Brite and that worked. Using a toothbrush i was able to get all the paint off. Took about 30 minutes.
