Help from you guys about this site

The old board would do it. It somehow had "a floating" scroll bar as soon as a picture was too big.
Did that work in IE 7? I'm not sure why it doesn't work in this software. This software is by far superior, so I can't help but think it's a browser issue...

The easiest thing is to get people who post massive pictures to upload them via the RPF (so you only see thumbnails, click for the larger picture) or have them link it without displaying the image... PM a mod or post starter to do this. Massive pictures aren't too common, right?

Nosed around propcircle untl I found this thread.

I get a nice right/left scroll bar at the bottom of my IE broswer, not one that's at the bottom of the thread.

Another way would be to have people upload them at imageshack.us and use the code in 'Thumbnail for forums (1)'

example

While those are good ideas about the picture thumbnails, there's too many people here that can't figure out that their PMs are still off, they have no avatar yet, can't use a spellchecker, etc. While they're missing the simplest of things, they will not do something technical.

It sounds like some other boards have worked out the scrolling issue, so let's fix this one.

PMs are all turned on. Avatars are for people to upload themselves. Spellchecker... well.... :rolleyes

And the scrolling thing... to be honest, I have no idea what's causing it, but I haven't had much time to poke around too much. At worst I'll just check the default skin. You say it works in the brown, Jedi Knight skin, but not the white defaul nor black Star Wars skins?

Okaley Dokaley--looks like the black SW skin is the only one that has the scroll bar problems, the other 2 only have the IE7 scroll bars! (at least for me)

So, using either one of those will work for my viewing needs. :thumbsup

Good idea, I hadn't thought of the skins being the cause. :confused

If we can isolate it to just the Star Wars skin, it'll be easier to isolate the problem and fix it... hopefully. So thanks ToothTech. Waiting for more feedback...

Sheesh... silly people. :lol

It's the line "OVERFLOW-X: auto;" in the Star Wars skin. Remove it and you should start to see the scroll bars as normal.

I guess that's a no?

Really, all you have to doo is compare the two skins... The star wars one apparently has some unnecessary coding at the top, where the default doesn't.

It should be a quick, 1-minute fix...

I'm also having the same problem...I posted a thread asking this same question yeaterday then I found this one today. I have scroll bars at the bottom of the threads but they are in black so I cant see them but they are there. If I can figure out how to change the skins I will change mine from the star wars one.

Ok...this is an edit...I just changed my skins to the defalt one and everything is ok now...it seems to resize the pics in the threads and has the floating scroll bars, the star wars skins didnt do this for me.

*tap* *tap* Is this thing on?
Well, my annoyance at this annoyance has peaked. So, I looked in the tech support forums and found this thread. I am using the black Star Wars skin and this problem still exists. If the fix is as easy as Gytheran says it is, is there any way we can get it resolved soon?

I really don't understand why the mods are refusing to fix this. It would fix multiple issues plaguing the skin... like having to physically click the gray scroll bar to the right with the mouse to be able to use my up and down arrow keys...

Come on guys...

For what it's worth, you could use Firefox's web developer extension to make this change to this site (or you could use GreeseMonkey) ;)

Of course that would only be effective for you, and if you use FF.

I'm not going to badrap the mods over this, it is just an annoyance with big images. I wonder how often the mods actually check this section.

Not all of the mods have the necessary tech skills, and those that do have had RL distractions. Please bear with us.
