Help for sculpting and casting a helmet.

Thank you to anyone that helps me with this little personal project. I'm a newbie when it comes to these sort of things.

This is the helmet I'm aiming to sculpt, mold and then cast in resin. It would only be for display. Pic 1 Pic 2

So far this is what I know about the different clays. Non-drying clay like Chavant and Monster can be melted and used for casting clay models (not something I want to do), They also work easier when warmed, hold detail nicely, etc. But they can be a little expensive.
Water based clays, Laguna I believe is one, are easy to work with and relatively cheap for the large amount you get, down side is that once they dry out they crack and become useless (is this right? or can they be re-hydrated?). I also know about WED clay which is similar to regular water based clay but slower dry time.

So here is my questions about the clay: Which clay would work best for this sort of project?
I was leaning toward the Water based clay because of the ease of shaping, a recent car accident has left my hands and arms a bit weak and I don't have the endurance I used to in them. However, the ability to reuse the non-drying clay is very appealing. This wouldn't be the only project I wanted to do. I love making helmets and planned on a few others from various games, movies, etc.

I'm assuming with either types of clays I would be able to brush silicone over the clay model then a harder plaster shell, will I need to seal either of the clays to do this?

Again thank you to anyone who helps. :)

I was actually keeping a eye on both yours and mine. I think I decided on the WED clay though instead of the Chavant. Let me know how you like the Chavant clay :)
