This is a chronical of my Helm of Yngol project that I started in early January 2014. As of now (1/27/14), the project is complete.
DISCLAIMER: I AM IN NO WAY A PROFESSIONAL. I DID THIS AS BARE BONES AS POSSIBLE.
~Enjoy!
Here is the helmet as it appears in game-

I also used some helpful reference pics posted on Mr Pinski's build thread.
First I started with the pep file. Found one without sharp edges for quicker sanding once the bondo coat was put on.

I wanted to make the horns detachable, so I attached two 3" PVC couplers to act as the horn mounts.

Then I resined everything seperately. Two coats on the outside, three slush coats on the inside.

The horns were slushed also.

I finished up a can of old, nasty Bondo. That left a lot of ridging, so I had to sand the bejesus out of it :unsure.

Got a new can of Bondo, and finished up the helmet. To simulate the "hammered" look of the helmet, I used my Dremel w/ a tapered sanding bit.

I primed it between sandings to see how I was doing.

The rivets are decorative tacks from Hobby Lobby that I drilled in and super glued.

Apoxie Sculpt arrived in the mail, so I got right to that.

Horns, too.

Primed and painted the gosh darned heck out of everything. Flat white for the horns, Rust-Oleum Hammered Metal for the helmet.

Now on to weathering...
The horns were done using three different washes of acrylic paint, fading from dark to light.

Did a wash of watered down black acrylic paint on the helmet, letting it get into all of the divots.

Then after a 4 hour long rust, grime and Rub' n Buff session, this happened...

Sooo worth it in the end
