That's a great compromise. Yes, I suppose to do it the other way, you'd have to have a computer monitor as the clock face hooked up to the HDMI of the Raspberry Pi so you could control everything easily.
 
Finished up my version of the bat stanchion to use as a towel holder in my bathroom. Still have more to do before the bathroom will be complete though.

Ooooh I want some o' THOSE!

I really really love the bat stanchions, and that's a great idea.

Also, I'm SURE someone here is going to want to build it, so, I got a shot of a pretty obscure detail from the mansion front door yesterday. I dig door knockers and they've got a pretty cool one on the front door that I hadn't seen since that door is usually open and opens away from the line. They were having issues on the ride and I was at the front of the line when they shut the door so we couldn't see into the parlor. I probably didn't get a worthy shot, but I got a decent amount of detail. ;)

My pic, not my knocker, just thought some may be interested. I'm knee deep in my clock project at the moment and don't know where I'd start with something like this, but in case anyone else wants to:

I'm wondering if anyone has seen or considered a Leota crystal ball replica... Would a really solid rendition of that be prohibitively difficult? Like some sort of plastic mold clear sphere with the head cutout in the middle?
 
Out of curiosity does anyone have a high-resolution image of the picture in the lower left? I've found a cool octagonal frame but can't find a decent version of this picture to put in it.

It looks like Disney has once again read my mind... (Ironic, since this time it's with regards to Leota...)

I wanted to queue up a Leota head-in-a-ball project for once I finish my clock... (A LOT of work being done on that tomorrow) and after visiting the park this morning... They have something that looks worlds better than I would have aimed for in the size that I'd have loved for a 'reasonable' price... Dammit. Somehow my bank account escaped unscathed... this time.

I made the Man Eating Wreath a couple of years ago while I was making my Jack Skellington cosplay. Not "Haunted Mansion", but because the Nightmare Before Christmas takes over later in the year at Disneyland, I thought some may be interested.

I'm working on my mansion clock and I've got the eyes cut out and ready to carve, but before undertaking this part I wanted to ask some communal advise in case I'm missing anything ... This piece was a lot of work just to get this far and I don't want to screw it up now (4 pieces of oak glued for depth and then width and then the design cut out etc etc. This thing is wonderfully over-engineered right now.) Once I gather a couple more opinions and I'm OK with how this all looks, it's time to take the router to the eye (the white part) and the dark eyebrow part and start wood carving the penciled detail lines with a 90 degree wood carving tool, then i'll sand those down so it continues the rounded edge I put on the outside with the router...

My criticisms so far... We didn't cut the outer eye shapes the same ... one is convex and one is concave. D'oh!! So with the eye following the design of it, they'll be different. That's not a PROBLEM, just... something I notice. The line above the left eye is a little shorter than the right due to the dark area being thicker in that area, I'll probably clean that thicker line up a little bit and extend the line a tiny bit... I THINK I'm kinda happy with the eye shape/size except for the concave/convex thing... I could MAAAAAYBE sand down the left side so it's flatter/convex as well...

Anyhow, any advice is appreciated and I figured this would be a good thread for it, thanks!
