There are excellent pics of some of them in the chronicles and I'm quite surprised no one has sculpted and offered these yet. I'd certainly be in for a set. Any info out there?

Ronculus did one but I don't believe he got to the others.

I know of someone who's sculpted a few but has made them as one off's and shipped them off w/o molding them.

I agree it would be cool to get an accurate set of these. Some very interesting and unique monsters in there.

Table itself would be way cool too. It comes up as a dream project every year or so, but I don't believe anyone has truly "done" it...

Make the pices and the table will soon follow. I think this is one of the rare prob projects from ANH that have yet to be done.

I have to say I'm surprised there don't seem to have been any more attempts at this. Is a couple of one off's really it?

Then again, this is pretty involved project. There are no found parts to be used. There is nothing to do but sit down and sculpt them, and there are 8 different monsters to sculpt. Some of them don't look like easy sculpts either. I'm affraid if the project was done it would be outside my price range. This is going to take a great deal of time and talent, and that usually demands a high price (and deservedly so).

Just out of interest does anyone have any photographs of the original chess table?

I have seen it and it looked in pretty beat up condition and was very rough in construction close up (respectable condition for it's age) just couldn't get a photograph at the time. Most of the parts used in construction looked like stuff that was already available and just stuck on.

For anyone that doesn't know it is located in a glass case when you go into the main building of 'The Great Movie Ride' in Disney-MGM Studios theme park Florida. You walk past it whilst still queueing up to get on the ride. I saw it last year so hope it is still there.

If anyone does make pieces for the chess table put me down as seriously interested.

    Cheers Chris.

Here is a link to a site that has a board, figures (not very good looking), and rules. Since I can't link directly to the page, you have to select "Dejarik Rules" on the left side middle.

    Dejarik rules

and here is a site that has pictures of the actual figures

The chess table is at Disney MGM in Orlando at the entrance to the Great Movie Ride.

I have a pic at home but it's not a very good picture...

Post some caps and we'll see what we can come up with. Scale shouldn't be too strange- 3"-8" max.

There are some good shots in the photo gallery of the Laser Disc trilogy as well. Can anyone grab them? Shots of Tippet animating and such IIRC

I would love a set of these.

Tinted clear resin would be sweet. Impossible, I know... but *, would that be sweet.

The #8 body slamming #3 would be a good combo,
I think Ill tackle those 2 and see how they turn out :)

Would anyone have a height guess on #8 ???

    SWEET. I'm down :)

I was just thinking... the one guy holding the other would be cool, but what might be better yet would be to have the one guy standing (and growling/flexing) over the other guy's fallen body with the weapon as it his feet.

I think the holding him in the air may look awkward as it was part of a move (in addition to being top-heavy.)

    Thoughts?

When are you starting? What are you waiting for?? :lol

Im still finishing up the Luke head now but I can start on these guys in the next day or 2 . Id still like a height on one or both if someone knows .
    and ...

I am thinking how to make #3 suit both purposes ;)

    :D

That could work. Just need to make the arms able to be posed "up" on #8 and you could probably make #3 work either in the air or laying down.

I'll give it a crack too, prolly sculpt the others first then. I'd say the big guy is no bigger than 6", prolly about the scale of the SW Minis Rancor (which is 5"). I'd say that would be a good scale for a real board.

I'll scale my figs at that scale and maybe see if MonCal is willing to do the resin pours. It'd be awesome if we could make them posable, but I'll concentrate on the sculpt first.

Not out to make money on your idea - If I can do them and you like 'em, we'll do 'em at RPF bargain prices.

Modeling mechanical parts is one thing, but sculpting organic forms is not one of my better skills. I wish you guys the best of the luck. If any of you ever cast some copies I'd love to buy a set :D

Maybe someone should ask Ronculus what he scaled his to (and if he'd offer the one he sculpted again?)

Whatever we come up with, I think we should be careful that they all get made to the same scale.

I'd like to see all the figures but in "non-action" poses (i.e. all standing, not laying on the ground). Only because that severely limits the display possibilities.

    But, that's just my opinion.

I'd agree they should all be to the same scale and as close to the same style as the originals. Once we get measurements, we can get started.

I'd just want to ensure the one(s) I make match the scale of the ones someone else sculpts. It'd be so much better as an RPF team collaboration project anyways.

A possibility I thought of was to make the pieces "posable" by moulding them with sockets that could accept thick plumber's solder or coathanger wire and be able to pose the limbs.

My idea to make it more like Hologram figures it to make them in Clear resin with transparent coloration if possible.... It whould make the appearence of tranparencey as good as it is possible.

Just my idea on it. :$

If I go by that one and scale up the #8 Im doing would be 8 inches tall which seems that it might be a lil tall .
I think Im doing the #8 around 6 inches tall from feet to shoulders.
Does anyone else think thats a decent size , going from this pict that was posted last page ????
Does anyon e have measurements of the actual outer board panel the #8 is standing on ?
