I got my deluxe copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard from Amazon today. To put it mildly, I'm impressed. Every bit is very high quality. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

A lot times, things like this end up being cheaply made. I was very impressed with the quality of the end product.

There are also several drawings done by Jo in an envelope that fits into the pocket in the inside of the cover of the book/case.

Love mine. The only complaint I have is that the "gems" on the accents of the book cover look really fake. Especially the eyes of the skull. That minor complaint aside, it is a really impressive piece.

I have to agree with you there. I really noticed it when I went to take the pictures. Maybe I'll pop them out and find some real stones to put in there. Leave it to one of us to "improve" a bought prop. :lol

Very nice indeed! I wondered what kind of quality it would actually be. Glad it looks neat. I do, however, find it funny that they used the Nightmare Before Christmas Font. lol :lol

Dumb questions below... possible spoiler if you haven't read all the HP books...

Highlight below...

Wouldn't Albus have been dead by the time this was "Translated"? Where did the "commentary" come from? (I was dealing with family in the hospital while I read the last 2 so my memory is a bit fuzzy)

He was, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't have commentating from his portrait in Hogwarts.

As far as I can see so far, JKR doesn't explain that. I'm guessing we're supposed to just think he had been compiling notes on the stories for future. Hermione must have found them at some later point.

There's an interview here That's pretty good. It's funny that they say none of these books (the 7 original TBB) will ever be published. :D

At the end of the interview you can see the guy who made the metal parts for the cover. He's using red eye parts. I'd love to see what all 7 of the originals look like.

Oh man, I didn't even know about the nice fancy version. I picked up the small blue covered book at Amsterdam airport. I agree, it was a fun read. And I loved Dumbledore's commentary. Especially his jabs at Lucius.
