I think lost of Harry Potter fans, want a Harry Potter room, like me :)
I can't paint the walls and have much muggle stuff. Has anyone ideas for a harry potter themed room? I found stuff on internet, but it was all the same.
:cheers

Do you mean his room at the Dursley's or a room themed like the Hogwarts bed chamber?

Why not paint all four walls like different covers of the books? I know that's hard and you said you aren't a good painter, but I really don't know what else you could do.

Depending on your budget you could do the moving portrait thing from Hogwarts using those digitial picture frames. Also- lots of ideas for things like HP chests and stuff here. Don't forget a stuffed owl in a cage. :)

I like more the idea of some kind of dumbledores office... with heavy oak furnintures and all the HP stuff in it...

A wallpaper like in the movie with the Black family tree would be cool, too...

This made me think of painting each wall w/ the colors/crests of the 4 Hogwarts Houses.

I mean a Harry Potter themed room.
Thanks for the ideas!!!
Owh and I do have painting skills, but I am not allowed to paint the walls :cry
I would love to have a room like a Gryffindor common room :lol But I already said this : I have lots of muggle stuff... and my room is BLEU. I'll just try to make more Harry Potter Crafts :lol:lol

I like the idea of @onkelpsycho with the Black family tree wallpaper. I would like and paint it on my wall, but the best picture I can find of it is mediocre. Has anyone got the Harry Potter page to screen book? There's a good picture of it in there, maybe somebody could scan it for me

Ah, didn't notice that you couldn't paint. Hmmmm. You could always use posterboard to make crests or other things for the walls.

There are lots of awesome *Free* Harry Potter paper props in the paper props forum: http://www.therpf.com/free-harry-potter-paper-props/ :) You could always print up some of these for your room. They look great and would be quick/easy to do up. Which reminds me, there are a few I need to print up.

I did see someone on here who's working on a Hogwarts style trunk w/ books and other things the students would have, might be a cool thing to add to the end of your bed. Maybe a hedwig plush in a birdcage? You can find cages for cheap on craigslist or yard/garage sales.

I'm also making a Harry Potter themed room for my 6 year old brother. Was just wondering what things I could put in there, I've already done the Marauders map and the acceptance letter.
I'm allowed to paint the walls, but I'm not that great at art :p

This is a really late reply but just for those other people out their too I can up with some ideas;

-a four poster bed (These are like the dorms at Hogwarts) drape it in your house colours or maybe a bunk bed
- Books - use the ones you have, ones you don't use much- cover them in paper or add printed Hogwarts/harry Potter book covers
- posters - if you want to show you love for HP (probably wouldn't do this if you wanted it to be like the castle)
- crafts and props! these are great a few ideas: letters, potions (empty bottles with labels), the daily prophet/quibblers etc, mandrakes
- paint the walls or use wallpaper - stone like pattern maybe
- also other paper props such as the food/sweet packets

Hope i helped :)

maybe try to create a broom rack instead of a coat rack, or better yet, a broom rack and a wizard robe rack. You'll have to get some wizard robes to fill up the rack and a hp themed broom but it would make it look like a wizard lives there for sure. The wizard robe rack might be the cheapest of the two, you could probably pick up a hp wizard robe from party city or something for a discounted price now that Halloween is over.

Just had another idea, maybe you cold create floating candles in your room. Get some 2-6lb test mono filament (clear) fishing line to hand up these>>> and make your self some cool candles/holders that run off watch batteries or something like LED tea lights, and I think there are flickering flame LED tea lights too, that would add to the realism...hand a bunch of those up and it should look like floating candles, especially at night.

Good luck.
