Harry Potter Prop Room Displays?

After seeing the props and costumes in Seattle, viewing HP4 on the Imax, and most recently seeing the new film, I am considering devoting a good portion of my home theater to Harry Potter.

I have Dobby, various wands, the Marauders Map, the Sorcerer's Stone, and have ordered Moody and Malfoy's walking sticks.

I am curious to see how others have displayed their HP collections in their rooms, particularly since the wands (a dominant part of any worthwhile HP collection) do not make a large visual impact (Like - say - an MR Falcon would).

This is the wall I would most likely use.

Heh, I've got the same Gladiator sword. Mind if I ask what you used to mount it to the wall? I'm sadly going to keep all Potter stuff to one shelf. I saw a beautiful glass display cabinet by a fellow Propworx member, and I've been on the hunt for something similar. Sadly, though, they are hard to come by cheap here in Florida. Here is one I'm looking at, and thought maybe something similar to display your stuff:

I am making a custom wand display for my mother for christmas, she is a huge potter fan. My idea was to take a shadow box and make about 2"-3" long sections of wand box ends to make them look like they were stacked in the film, and then using clear acrylic make a stand that is hidden and comes out between the boxes to hold the wand box tilted at an angle with the lid open to look like the wand was flying out to "choose" it's owner...since I was only doing one wand I thought of the shadowbox, and possibly even putting the lettering on the glass to look like you are looking through the shop window.

I built a large wooden armoire that originally housed swords but that I have converted to hold my Harry Potter props. I have two hogwarts crests on the outside I am currently working the interior which will hold all the wands with shelves on each side covered in felt or faux leather.
This is what it currently looks like minus the crests.

Thanks guys! I am hoping to incorporate the new vertical wand displays that Noble is offering along with my other props including the: Zonko's and Honeydukes items from the park and the great items I've acquired from Juno and Kevin here on the forum. The idea is to have leather lined shelving on either side for the smaller props (i.e Time Turner, Horcruxes) and the middle part will hold all of the vertical wand displays. The bottom shelf, once complete will hold the items from Zonkos (i.e Extendable Ears, Quidditch gear, Omnioculars). I'm still trying to figure out what to put on the interior doors that won't fly off when I open them.

I would construct a nice big wicked mantel in between the 2 windows, maybe a fake fireplace for the floo system lol. Maybe some crossed brooms above the top some nice pieces on the mantle itself.

scratch that I see you have a fireplace off to the right. can we get some pics of that area

Oh, that sounds super cool! I'm filing this idea in my "stolen ideas that I want to do some day" file!!

Wands are a difficult one. What to do to keep them from being just sticks on a shelf?

For the character wands, I was thinking a shadow box and for the background using a picture from the movie of the wand "in action" scaled to "life size" and mount the wand over the picture of itself a quarter of an inch or so above the surface of the picture......??

Or if you like a particular spell that is impractical to make the image life size, just the picture whatever size big enough to mount the wand on top of it in the shadow box.

Like this one for Harry's wand would be cool......

I would Start my display off the fireplace and wrap to the wall. Maybe build a bigger mantle that can fit over the current one made to look like old aged timber. Throw up a nice Crest of your favorite house. Are there any nice Broom props to go above the window. or maybe the sword. Did anyone make the Fang or the Voldermort Crux book. I'm just curios....don't mind me I just ramble

thats not available till the end of January, you can also make Siruis Black's face made of embers in the fire place!
