Harry Potter Golden Snitch Replica

I have what I was told was an ultra rare Harry Potter Golden Snitch replica that was only given out to the executives of the first movie. I don't know if I'm posting in the right section, but I am trying to find out a little more information on it as eventually I would like to sell it, but I have no idea of its worth. From the scant research that I have been able to come up with, there are a couple of different versions of this with the gold plated version being the most rare. This one is, unfortunately not the gold plated version, but the brass. I've included some pictures, and any information that you can provide would be helpful. Thank you for your help

As scarf man said, this should be moved to the replica forum, as it's not screen used..

You might want to check this thread out:

If I remember correctly, there was about 10 given away as prizes and about 50 to WB Executives and other VIPs.. This looks to be one of the more common one, though is still rare, as there were a few that were given out that had a big brass plate on top of lid (Instead of small strip plate) that had the company/persons name and a small plate on front side of box saying Golden Snitch.. Those ones are even more rarer than this style.. I believe there was about ten 10K Gold ones, which I believe is the version that was given to J.K. Rowling, which of course are the rarest..

Sorry for posting in the worng place. I'm new here. Is there a way for me to move the thread somehow? Thank you for the info

Click on the "Report Post" link at the bottom of your original post, and that will get the attention of the mod staff. It's no big deal.
Welcome to the RPF.

Exactly, no probs, just helps keep it all tidy.. :p

You might want to try and PM someone like rkpetersen , I know he had one..

Also, does it have a COA and/or plastic stand?? I know one went a couple of years ago for a high price, which included COA and stand..

where abouts are you based as it would be great to get one of those molded in some rubber

Think you'll find members frowning at that comment.. Do believe that molding another person's work, be that official or fan made, is considered recasting..

Were the Wings silver in the 1st movie? I just watched the deadly hallows last night and the wings were gold.

not looking for another recast debate, see this is where i get confused how is this any different to people offering cast's of out of production or screen used items as this isn't a widely available piece and looks pretty close to the screen used items

Ya, I had had the same thought to recast it out of resin, but my current circumstances are such that it would probably just be better to sell it and have done with it. Down the road I may do exactly that, but I would want to look into the legalities prior to. Neat as it would be, I'd rather not have the legal storm.

I seem to recall the wings being silver in the first movie, but they were moving fast so it was hard to tell. This one is definitely silver wings.

I was actually planning on starting a whole Harry Potter collection of all the rare and hard to find items held in Mad eye Moody's trunk (I'd probably have to build it), with all the first edition books I could find, but now doesn't seem to be the right time.

Thanks for letting me know how to move the post, I'll bring it to the attention of the mods.

I haven't taken the foam out to see if there is a stand or COA. I'll have a look as soon as I get home. I had bought this piece a few months ago, and then I was called away to the USA (I live in Canada) for a few months, and having just gotten back, I've only really had it for a couple of weeks. Do these come with COA's? Are they supposed to have a stand? I've never seen one of these ones with a stand, but that doesn't mean they don't have them.

Seen some around that have a stand like this:

Has the same style boxing etc, but also the stand.. And a few I've seen in the past for high price, had COA.. Whether they were from the WB Executives etc, saying that it was theirs, I don't know??

I don't know if that was given out with the snitches or not, but that could be made with ~30 minutes design work on a laser cutter. Probably was!

Not sure.. Seen probably about 4 of them with this stand, but don't know if they were officially released with it, or only certain Executives etc got them.. But definitely need to get one of these one day..

Along long time ago... I collected everything HP. Most I have traded out at this time.

Including the swag items from the studios. These were made by a exclusive US jeweler. 5 pieces in 14K gold, 10 in sterling silver and the rest in plated brass for a total of 50 pieces. The silver and gold pieces included the stands. They are still very difficult to find but come up on eBay from time to time. The gold pieces are stamped on the bottom, same for the silver with the "sterling" marks.

And there you have it.. Knew tripoli would be able to shed some light to it.. Thanx for the info mate..

I have one of these too. While it's not accurate to the actual Snitches used, it's still really gorgeous and one of my favorite items.
