harry potter cosplaying

Does anyone make or sell those Deatheaters masks, I'd love to get a hold of one, any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! Drooling !!!

All of my wands are made from hardwood, some domestic and some exotic, but what I am interested in is making a good quality wand that feels like a wand when you hold it, I couldn't stand to have a collection of wands just sitting on a shelf, I want to get them out and play with them.

I will be posting a thread in the prop replica showcasing the wands I have done, and I could most definitely do a Voldemort Wand this next week (then post some pics ), but not Hermione, those vines would be hard to carve into a hard wood, without taking forever to do, I don't think I could make one and keep the cost down.

J.C.- I will send you a PM with more details about Voldemorts wand.

that sounds great! thanks HeirofOlivander! if you're talking about the death eater masks on this page, then i suggest PMing pete, the guy that makes em. :)

I plan on cosplaying a gryffindor student at the halfblood prince movie, anyone got any ideas or tips? i'm really excited! and i want to look as accurate as i can :)

Heya, if you look a bit further up I have added a load of info on my own Griffindor uniform which has been cleared as movie accurate by the UK 501st Garrison, for what it's worth :)

If you drop me a pm, I can send you the links to all the suppliers and a link for some accurate robes!

I definitely didn't take your comment as forceful or anything like that! This is why I hate typing instead of talking, it can be hard to get the proper tone across. I was just feeling a little sheepish for not doing my research before recommending something to you (I am usually obsesive about getting all the facts first.) The amount of research, quality and passion people put into helping people find/make quality costumes and props here is what I love about this site! I felt like I missed the mark for quality right off the bat.

I hope you post some pictures of your costume and tell us how every thing turns out! =)

aheart4art - i too hate typing! :p you're right when you say it can be annoying with conveying tone properly. so i'm glad it's not been the big fallout that i thought it was :)

as for my costume, i'm now doing two: i'm gonna be "slughorn's memory" voldemort (so, tom riddle in half blood prince) on our first date we'll be doing the costumes, which will be july 16th. the second date will be around august 1st, where i'll be doing ralf finnes voldemort. so i'll be looking into making the black robes myself, as all the ready made costumes i've seen online are nowhere near screen accurate. :/ i'll post pics as and when i get to work. at the moment i'm compiling LOADS of references. :) it's gonna be fun! :D

somebody cosplayed as Harry Potter in one of the conventions i attended.

I hate to distract from this thread, but I joined Devilwalid's site.

They posted in the HP cosplay thread inviting folks to join their forum for free Harry Potter props. Imagine my surprise (or lack thereof) when I find that the bulk of the props are from my own Web site with no credit given.

The best part: Seeing a crappy screencap of the Platform 9 3/4 ticket and underneath that the "results" of printing it. The result? My ticket which took me countless hours to redraw.

The second best part: I have a bad version of the Ollivander's label (it's just meant to show people what it looks like) on my site. I accidentally left the letter V over the O when I saved it.

I looked around and they're asking for a bunch of paper props. Beware.

juno, i'm really sorry to hear about that ^ . :(

on a slightly different note, if anyone has any noble collection merchandise, please post pictures, reviews, and possibly mesurements (?) - as i hope to be able to craft a wooden voldemort wand using the noble collection wand as a base. :)

I think the wands are completely acceptable for cosplay. I'm looking at a rack of them right now. They've been swished and flicked and waved by everyone from a three-year-old to an 80-year-old. I know at least one has been dropped (and survived).

I have some wooden wands as well. Of course, they feel better in the hand, but I'd be just as afraid of dropping and breaking them as I am with my Nobles.

after looking at a few different websites, i think it's safe to say that i'll have to custom order my voldemort wand to be made out of wood - which i imagine will be expensive! :wacko so i've decided to make my own wand. i have a long thin paintbrush to use as the main shaft of the wand, and i'm thinking of sculpting the handle out of a lighter wood for the main part of the handle, then adding the fine details (like the curved claw like part on the end) in either sculpey or green stuff - used in warhammer. does anyone have any experience with green stuff? is it strong? how long does it take to harden? can i apply it to wood?

help/ideas and pics appreciated! :)

anyone? no pictures or details of noble stuff? this would be really helpful to my project, so PLEASE may i have some detailed specs/pictures of noble collection wands, etc?

thanks. :)

what you don't see with Voldemort robes in the photo. it the robes are almost see though and patterned like snake skin. The robes are and "easy flow" as I recall hearing from the one how made the robes for the movies. The robe also looks as it was done in one peace.

I got an email from Warner Brothers saying they're having a sale this weekend on their official website. Might be a good opportunity to buy a few props if you've been looking. I think I'll be finally ordering my Bellatrix wand.

Hi,

I am hoping to make a death eater costume for halloween. I am making most of the costume with some help from a friend.

Nice one !
I'm also working on a Death Eater costume myself.
Finding decent ref pics was a pain in the ass !!
Looking around for the fabrics etc atm, will prob be starting somewhere around the beginning of september.
Going to wear it to a con in October and ofc on the movie release of DH: Part 1.
