Harrison Ford on Star Wars

It seems typical with some actors, they hate/belittle the very movie/tv show that made them a household name. Ford didn't become a star because of American Graffiti, it was because of Star Wars. Yet he constantly puts it down and tries to ignore it.

I've heard that Eddie Murphy is the same way when it comes to Saturday Night live.

Some stars just have no gratitude.:unsure

If I mentally put myself in Ford's shoes, I can understand his point of view. I think most of us would get pretty tired of constantly having to respond to people asking the same questions about a job we had 27 years ago.

True. Its not even that, i know Ford is a very private person and I don't blame him but he just comes off as being really unfriendly at times. Actually starwars would be the last thing I'd ask him about.

I think to this day he is honestly perplexed that a 'job' on a movie he did became so iconic.
It's like having a job such as 'window washer' for example and suddenly having millions of groupies telling you how much your 'window washing' has forever changed their lives for the past 30 odd years.

Cool with me the guy doesn't give a crap about the films or want to tak about them, because i don't wanna hear it anyway. :lol

I don't know a single artist that's ever happy with anything they've ever done. They always finish something and when you tell them "Hey, that's great!" they want to give you a list of what they could have done better.

I'm sure he thinks that about a lot of the roles that he's had, but I'm also sure he is tired of constantly hearing about a movie he did 30 years ago, especially when he wants to talk about what he's doing now... which he probably finds more interesting....

I don't think Ford cares about fame, or that the films he's worked on have made him famous. He has an odd sense of humor though, and I always wonder if he gets a kick out of being surly in interviews. If I ever interview him every single question is going to be about aviation, carpentry, and wildlife.

I've heard that Eddie Murphy is the same way when it comes to Saturday Night live.
Murphy's battle with Lorene Michaels has more to do with that once Eddie was considered for Beverly Hills Cop, Michaels wanted to be made exec producer on the movie or he wouldn't let Murphy do it . The BHC people didn't want or need Michaels, so Murphy had to sign to do Best Defense just to get permission from Michaels to do BHC.

And it will make 100s of millions and I will laugh at the haters even more.

Prepare your canned, anti-Lucas rhetoric now.

Have you ever had a cast on a broken limb?

How fast did you get sick to death of people asking..."Hey, what happened, Man?" and you having to explain it...one...more...time.

Imagine having to do that for 30 friggin' years.

Now, Han Solo and Indiana Jones are cool guys, I would love to hang out with them again, but this Harrison Ford character...I don't know anything about him, never met him.

its not unique to ford.

by all accounts alec guinness hated being remembered for star wars which of course was at the end of his career when he felt he'd done a hell of a lot of other good stuff in the years before. as far as I know, he hated/refused to sign star wars things for a long time. of course, he forgot the fact that the films gave him financial security cos he was on a percentage.

in a way, I understand. Guinness was acting from the 1930's, he had a huge body of work, and to be remembered for a 'fluffy fantasy' film must have peeved his classical sense of drama.

however, to me. liking him in star wars, drove me to seek out his other work and come to appreciate him as a fine actor.
