Limited Run Han Solo ROTJ Blaster Active Project

Good news.

I spoke with my machinist and he can do split runs for about the same cost.

So that means you will have the following options:

  • Beveled washers that are the same size as the spacer washer or you can get the "Reduced Size"
  • Offset Rail or Flush Rail Scope Brackets.

On the scope brackets he is going to drill the mounting holes lower in the rail so it will still be made from 2 piece so it will not save us any money.

It also looks like we can add the machined aluminum Square detail to the kit for less then $10

what was the original estimate ??? Also are the pieces going to be ordered all at once or are we going to be ordering them in waves ? Just wondering if i am going to need to start making payment lol.

The original estimate is $220 for the parts listed in the first post

I prefer to collect a single payment for all the parts minus the cost of shipping

Accuracy is what I'm going to strive for on my build, even though I'm using a Denix like most will be doing. From what I've learned on making my 'Hero' version, a MGC replica was used for the ROTJ and not a real Mauser. And that puts me at ease a bit. As for the mount, I would prefer a two piece bracket and to have the off-set. I think this will make it more of a conversation piece when someone asks looking at your model, why it's not flush? You can tell them it's for screen accuracy! On the flip side, if you make a flush version, you might get some keener ******* who will point out that it's not screen accurate and that just might ruin your day. As for construction of the bracket, I can't see a two-piece not being as rigid as a one-piece given what it is, so that shouldn't be an issue. I do have an idea for the off-set/non off-set to be made from one piece, I will CAD draw what my idea is later today and share it.

That sounds perfect! Thanks a lot for giving the option

We hit 30 but really need 10 more to keep this affordable and 20 more to keep it at the original estimate

Have you thought about offering parts to some other prop forums? Since you're primarily using email for the transaction, it'll be easy to keep track of. Just a thought.

That is awesome news that we'll get to choose. I'd go for the reduced size and the offset. I'd also definitely want the square piece

Discussing parts across multiple forums can get very confusing so I would want all of the discussion here.

However, I would be open to giving members of other forums the same price as long as they signed up prior to the production phase

Can you PM me with links to the other forums?

All sounds good.

Just to add to the conversation. I'm not sure if anyone has already noticed this but the stunt and hero props, the square detail piece looks like it slopes at a rounded angle.

Most of the parts I've seen on replicas have a straight angle for this piece

I don't quite think that's what going on.

I have a vintage rubber bumper and it doesn't have sloped sides.

I don't know how to work this out yet

They actually remind me of adhesive backed rubber (or plastic) door bumpers. You put them on the top and bottom of a sliding door so it doesn't slam in to the wall when it is closed. I have them on my closets at home. Like this: They come in all sorts of sizes and colors and some are sloped

It's assumed that the original blaster use a vintage version of that , which had a slight radius on the beveled sides. I have a vintage bumper but the sided are not as beveled as the pictures seem to indicate.

However, just about everyone that built a ROTJ blaster from one of my previous projects used that bumper.

I want to take a break and ask everyone to use this time to re-open the discussion on the previous parts.

If have any questions about the following parts please post them below:

  • Flash Hider
  • Beveled Washer
  • Spacer washer
  • Scope Bracket
  • Square Detail

Am I safe to assume:

1) All five(5) parts listed are to be made out of aluminum?
2) That they will come without any coatings as in 'plain machined' form?
3) All parts listed will look like the ones in the first post (Jan 28) pics?

Looking at that pic of the square on my bigger (better) screen at work (not my phone), I would say if that square piece is sloped, it's just barely. To me it could just be worn on the sides giving the illusion... since it was rubber.

So not a big deal to me. I'm sure the ones you have now would be fine...

Here is a quick mock up of the parts on a beat up MGC , the scope bracket placement is off so don't worry about that.

The sides on the square detail in this picture are almost straight, there is a slight taper or draft probably for molding purposes

But as you can see it looks like the sides are beveled or sloped
