I guess I'll tell Boba Debt that we don't have to worry about doing a run of these.

Looks like the space between your "knurled" area and the back ring needs to be a bit wider, and I don't believe there was a step at the start of the transition to the cone.

Have a look at this photo, edited by mortificator himself, I believe, when we were discussing the flash hider while he had access to the exhibit.

At certain angles there's the appearance of a step, but it's because of the two separate angles that make up the transition from cylinder to cone. It's rather subtle, and with my hiders, I made it a smooth concave transition, before we discovered the new information.

That's looking so much better! I still think the section just behind the "knurls" needs to be a touch wider. Other than that, I'd say you're pretty much there!

I debated about that. But I think that the drawn on lines do not go all the way to the end of that section. So, if I look to the center of the flash hider, I see the lines end, then the knurled section end. I'll sleep on it though

If you look at the top edge of the flash hider in the photos you last posted, I believe the knurling lines reach the end of that section.

It's a very minor and nitpicky thing, but I still believe that section behind the knurling should be just a few more thousandths wider.

Whatever you decide, it'll be the closest anyone has come to the correct shape in a run of these parts, which is pretty exciting!

Is this going to have the counter bore in the back and a barrel through design?

If so I can discuss the internal measurements I use which makes mounting it on the barrel pretty easy.



BTW - When my active project discussed the Bespin Flash Hider in 2004 we spent weeks on the details and then there was a general consensus that the Hoth flash hider might have been a worn out resin copy of the Bespin flash hider

Not many people wanted the Hoth Version so we didn't spend much time discussing it.

Now that we are focusing on just the Hoth flash hider spending some time of the details wouldn't be a bad thing.

There real Hoth flash hider is 100% aluminum.

Anakin, the part where it tapers up to the main body from the flash cone... where you have it dipping INWARD about halfway through, is actually bumping outward on the real one. The light is tricking the eye into seeing a dip inward, but it's the opposite in reality.

This is the real profile of that section.

I just had a closer look at the available pictures and played with lighting, contrast etc....Scott seems to be 100 % right with this. Good eye buddy!
