Han blaster flash hider

Hi

I know that the part in question has been identified as being part of a German machine gun but as I collect and have an interest in guns I could not help feeling that I had seen somthing very similar. Things like this bug me and as usual my brain decided to slip into gear at about 4 in the morning much to early to go and have a look in my parts bin. As soon as she who must be obayed got up I scuttled down to my gun room and under a pile of sundry bits I found this.

Pretty near I thought and a lot cheaper.....

I guess if you want a similar looking item you could go with that.

BTW you may want to fix your sig file "jw@starwarsbalster.com"

Unless the domain really is starwarsbalster? ;)

Depends if you want "near enough" or "just right." Everyone has their own taste.

Amazing what you can remember at 4am :)

Talisen was pointing out that your email address is typoed in your signature:

May the (MET) force be with you
jw@starwarsbalster.com

My Webpage

That would make an intersting piece for a non-canon, alternate DL-44. What is make and model?

OOOPs that will teach me to not to type posts when half asleep. Thanks guys for pointing it out. The flash hider is of a ZB 26 and the ZB30 which was used by the german forces after they captured the factories were it was made. It also was the design that was adapted by us Brits and made into the Bren gun which was probably one of the finest light machine guns of the Second World War. I know that IMA in the states have these for about $15 but specify that you want the Trumpet one not the straight blank fire one. It beats using a bottle cap and a bit of formed tubing and as I said before a cheap alternative to a DL-44

Thanks again guys

Weren´t the ZB26 and ZB30 chzech MG´s?

Markus

Spot on Markus, when the germans captured the BRNO factory they took over the manufacturing facilities and took into there service the ZB machine guns. Before the war the germans used varios arms companies in other countries to manufacture guns for them to get around the treaty of Versie and also looked at what was available to purchase or copy.

The correct Flash hider was used on the rare ground version which was adapted like the MG15 when the German air force had been more or less cleared from the skys and the ground forces needed anything that went bang. Late in the war pilots, ground crew etc were used as infantry taking with them guns that they were familiar with.
