Halo 3 Master Chief WIP UPDATE: 20APRIL2011 Helmet is 99.9% Done

Re: Halo 3 Master Chief WIP UPDATE: 15JAN2011: Seamless visor/DONE PAINTING!

Got this in, IDK when, but found it lying underneath about 10 other christmas ornament storage boxes. It's a Matsuo made SMG for a fan film.

Very nice quality and probably one of the best weapon replicas I own!

Although it is "assembled," nothing is permanent, so I'll have to break it down and paint everything. The bottom piece to the trigger guard is a little loose, but I'll be attaching it in place. It's cold cast as well, so I'll take some time polishing it down.

Some things that I really like about this piece is that he cast magnets in the magazine and it comes on and off as I please. The "bolt" is cast metal (aluminum?). The stock and forward grip are moveable.

Couldn't be happier :)

Thanks bro! I'll let you know!

Got to work on the SMG today and got pretty far! Dissassembled everything, sanded all the seam lines away and polished the surface with some 0000 steel wool. I proceeded to make a few additional details, to include front and rear sight details, and small indentations that are supposed to be on the rear of the magazine.

I am using flat black and Testors gun metal Buffer. I managed to get everything painted the gun metal, but I'm gonna have to wait to do the black accents for another day. The only par that is truly finished is the barrel (weathering as well)

Polished and dissassembled

Painted (Not finished though!)

Rear and front sights. lol front post is slightly off center, but hey any sighted M16 post is never centered.

Small detail

Just to show size. It's a good size prop, but fortunatly, my size in comparison fits the look

Re: Halo 3 Master Chief WIP UPDATE: 03FEB2011: SMG almost done!

Awesome I love that smg, excellent detail. I love updates on this project.

Re: Halo 3 Master Chief WIP UPDATE: 03FEB2011: SMG almost done!

Got a little more done today despite the rain!

Started sanding and cleaning the edges of the armor parts, removing the excess resin and jagged edges. I loaned out my mouse sander which I desperatly need to finish this process though, but I got what I could but need to get back at it again.

The chest piece is going to need a little more work. Despite the piece being large enough for me, the sides are not wide enough. Yes, I need to lose weight, however, this isn't so much a fat issue, but it's literally digging into my ribs. What I can do is start grinding the areas that are to thick that I can remove and reshape so that I can allieviate or remove that pressure and wear it comfortably.

Along with the chest piece, I went along and got my left forearm "wearable." I'm going to have to modifiy how the detail piece stays in though. My biggest concern now that after looking at this pic, is that I feel the forearm piece is not large enough/proportionate to me. It's a great piece though...

Will be doing little by little

Re: Halo 3 Master Chief WIP UPDATE: 29MAR2011: Working the Armor

The detail on the chest and forearm look great, really clean. Keep it up!

Re: Halo 3 Master Chief WIP UPDATE: 29MAR2011: Working the Armor

Hey, lets see some pictures of what you're doing now that you've got that foam and that REACH pistol. :thumbsup glad it ended up in your hands.

LOL Maybe if I didn't sleep all day I might have been a bit more productive.

However, I did get in my Sean Bradley ODST bucket in today. I was able to trim the neck line and start on cutting the visor!

Not too sure on what paint scheme to go with yet though

Re: Halo 3 Master Chief WIP UPDATE: 29MAR2011: Working the Armor

Niceeeee :thumbsup I love those helmets :D Now If I could just afford one.... But TK and TB comes first.

Alright! I had re-ordered those caps that got lost in Arizona. Just got them in today and got around to getting them fitted. Sorry for using the flash (I hate having to use it) but I had no good light.

I'm debating if I want to use a spray to lose sight of the rings that are molded onto the lens caps, but we'll see. I need to just install the lights and pad her up!

Now that I've had a chance to look at it, I don't think the forearm looks too bad. If you slide it up a bit closer to your elbow, it'll work great. There'll be a bit of a gap at the wrist, but at least you won't have the parts knocking together when you bend your elbow.

*EDIT: it's also worth pointing out that you're the biggest guy to fit in my armor so far. Even so, grinding away some of the material inside the rib portions of the torso armor can make it as much as 3" wider without significantly weakening the pieces.

I had actually tried moviing it further up, but I'd have to grind more off the rim and I'm starting to cut it close. IDK, We'll see. I'm going to have to wait till after my deployment to really get into the armor build unfortunatly :/

As for the chest, that's what I'm planning to do. I was initially afraid of losing some of the details, but eh, No point if I can't wear it, right? Good thing everything else fits me for the most part lol
