Richard,

I saw some of your work first-hand this weekend at Mike's The Lab haunt. Excellent work! Loved the T-Rex!!! :thumbsup

Thanks for the kind words guys :) The large lettering is wood letters I bought from a craft store. The small letters are the kind that you see on the black felt boards in office buildings that tell you who's office is on what floor! LOL

The statue was something I bought from Lowes as well as the urns on top of the archway. The gate for the archway is actually 2 short ones bolted together. Inside the 2 large columns are 4x4's which have hardware on them to hold the gates up. The gates are functional so they can be opened and closed.

Rocketeer I am glad you like the Trex I made, that was a fun project!

I rent a 10x10 storage locker that is half filled up to 7' foot level with halloween decorations for the yard. I turn my front yard into a grave yard and rotate some of the characters each year. I couldn't begin to imagine building decorations like that and then having to store them.

They are awesome.

awesome stuff Rich, could you share some tips on your paint application for the tomb stones, if someone didnt know they would swear those are real.

I want to try stuff like this for my yard next year.

I'll echo what everyone has been saying, awesome work! A tutorial for painting the tombstones would kick all manner of ass.

Damn! Riley, you are the man! That gateway archway looks better than the one I bought from the Theme Factory in Pennsylvania... and they supply Theme Parks. Awesome!

Just one suggestion, get some of those flame pots that are really a fan blowing streamers above a light for the tops of those columns.

I don't want to be rude in any way, but:
When you get tired of storing that stuff, give me a yell! I'll gladly buy it from you and come down there to pick it up. I've already got a polebarn filled with Halloween stuff, might as well expand even more! :lol

Those decorations are classic!

Thanks again guys for the kind comments about my work! The way I make the tombstones is to carve them from foam. After that I apply the lettering or decorations the way I want. After that I coat the entire tombstone with sculpt or coat (an acrylic paste) and then lay cotton batting into the wet sculpt or coat. Then I apply more sculpt or coat and then once it is dry it makes it very tough and durable!

After all of that comes the paint. I usually use white paint as the base. After that I use either dark gray, dark green etc. and then paint that over the base coat. I have found that the best results come from not watering it down. I will wipe most of it off and then spray it in spots with a water bottle to give it the weathererd look.

Outlander, I had thought about the flaming caudrons in the urns but since this was made for a customer they did not want to have to c;limb up a ladder to get them down if it started raining :)
