Green Lantern Movie Ring

Just thought i'd share my latest ring in this thread :) I'm really happy with how this has turned out.

It features:
Pitted stainless steel band with black oxide weathering
Vibrant green resin gem and face with faux crystalline structure
Stainless ring around the gem

Not the greatest pictures, but these are taken during the day with the sunlight coming through my window

Did you leave the back open for light?

Looks very well done! The hammered metal looks very close to the real thing!

*AHEM!*

Look again. Look closer.

haha Thanks for clearing that up :)

Yes it does have a place where an LED setup could fit. It was originally designed just to take up less material with the hole there, but seeing as how Honus has been able to make a very small led kit, i think it would be able to fit in there. it may not at this exact moment, but it wouldn't be hard to do a little dremeling and widen the hole a bit if needed.

Upon measuring, the hole itself appears to be just under half an inch in diameter which is 12.7mm. So this would actually need some grinding but not too much. Future versions of this ring could easily include a larger hole

I saw that part :rolleyes

Pretty cocky for guy who didn't take the pics! :lol

But that pic still didn't tell me if the center was open or blocked off in someway, none the pics there appeared to be any light showing through...

I guess when I want to show off I take the time to do the pics right... :angel

Standing in the sun, that would been my first thought to have taken one with the light coming through, but I guess that's just my attention to detail... :lol

I tried to get some pics with the light coming through but my phone wouldn't/couldn't focus in. Also my gem is a little darker than i'd like at the moment but i assure you light does pass through the gem and it looks great. An LED behind it would look so cool though. I'm anxious to get one from Honus

Just beating ya up... Seriously this ring looks great one best bands I have seen!

I think an LED might be the way to go for your for sure! VERY NICE WORK!

Thanks Stitch. I'll try to get some pics with the light coming through. If i have to, i'll just use a flash instead. My phone camera doesn't like sunlight and focusing at the same time

My camera phone does not like focusing when depositing checks! Have spent hours trying to get check deposit to go through!

Just delivered by UPS a little while ago: My 2 DC Direct Movie Power Ring Prop Replicas (they were pre-ordered from Discount Comic Book Service, who waited to ship them along with the Movie Power Battery Prop Replica I pre-ordered at the same time. :thumbsdown) Can't wait to open them up when I get home from work! :love

But Bimmer's is still the superior replica... gotta start saving up for one of his! :love

Here is the latest from our ebay friend...

We actually have everything and the item will be listed with all the photos mid week coming up. The delay now is the display box for the ring, they will not arrive till mid week. But the set will be the ring, the display box, three standup official photos, film cells from the actual movie, and our friends at Warner made some special media EPKS for us. These are the same electronic press kits that go out to the World Press with all the trailers, film clips of the movie, interviews and about 15 minutes of broll behind the scenes. So its a really great package we will have. I was very please with the ring, they got it perfect as to the details of the prop masters. Its very light, not heavy like so many others. Its made from the same alloy that the prop masters used so its to exacting detail. David

Still not sure about all this BS... :confused

Since that guy's selling a toy Iron Man mask in a frame for $300, I'm very eager to see the actual GL ring that he intends to offer.

Was the movie filmed in digital or on actual film? Just wondering because if it was digital then would there even be any film cells?

Got even more today, should be interesting!

Bond Gallery's pictures are up... The band's texture looks like raised, pebbled skin and seems to have a visible two-part mold seam line in the photos. The gem looks like a regular faceted gem and it sticks out over the face (which is also rather bland, with no notches or anything). The COA says "created from the prop masters exacting details of the original movie version."

Yikes. It makes them look even worse now for stealing photos of rings that are much nicer. I feel sorry for anyone who paid $295 sight unseen and expected something like the promo or zenix's ring. I've been making better looking rings with the TRU ring than what this turned out to be. Nice ring box though, I guess.

Ya the entire ring is wrong as you all know. I asked him what this alloy was, they were brass and he had no answer, I know the prop guys had NOTHING to do with this! Its a mess. The band is cheap and the resin is really bad!

The special DVD "behind the scenes" looks like just the same stuff that's on imdb! Match the list to the titles... Videos and Trailers: Green Lantern (2011) :rolleyes

He must know someone at Warner and DC to get permission to do his own thing or bought some kind license? The COA is pretty ballsy if he does not!

I am really hoping Stormleader & Nexnox would chime in about this some, highly doubt they had ANYTHING to so with this!

Wow... that ring looks terrible in comparison to Bimmers, Zenix, and Batjeepsters casts...

I agree with the above poster... some of the mods of the TRU ring look better than that "official" ring...

I wonder what his defence would be if someone pointed out that the ring looks nothing lke the DC Direct ring, which was also supposedly taken from casts of the movie prop ring.

Glad I found this board, otherwise I might have been one of those unfortunate suckers to buy one of these rings :wacko
