Green Lantern Movie Ring

I am going to make sure she has filed claim with ebay! Any idea?

Since the auction said payment was via Paypal she can file a claim with them stating the item was "significantly not as described." There are a lot of scams going on with this but hers is an honest case and she is entitled to a full refund. Paypal will then hold the auction payment amount in his account until the matter is settled. Once she files her grievance she will want to immediately bump it to a claim in order to have Paypal settle the dispute.

I think I'll send the seller a nice little message. :)

Let hide in the dark till she gets her money back. I was so mad I was ready to call him and tell him I was going to report him to WB and if he didn't refund her money I would make sure he was sent C&D!

Guys like this give us all a bad name! :angry

Hi Stitch,
I paid as a guest through paypal so I have to take the matters up with my bank because paypal said it was out of their hands.. I did contact my bank last week and they haven't gotten back to me I have to wait till tomorrow or during the week to contact them again when they're open. The man from the Bondgallery (David) said he would 'conveniently' be out of town for a few days.. I sent his item back to him almost 2 weeks ago and he said he hasn't received it so the fact he is going away means that he will miss the package and he knows this so I have no idea why he is being so difficult and deliberately trying to make me look stupid. All I want is my money back I spoke to eBay I spoke to my bank and I don't seem to be getting any straight answers I'm not even sure after filing a claim I'll actually get it back.

I hope she does get her money back. This fellow is a rip off artist.

I did buy one of these (before I saw the thread here...o LOL, lesson learned :unsure). I'm waiting for it to arrive...and when I get it, I'll post some really high rez pix for you guys to tear apart. :angry

And since I legitimately bought one, I can leave negative feedback and really teach him a lesson. So far, the thing hasn't even shipped yet. I got the same story-- he was "out of town".

Don't worry, since then I've gotten a couple of the real ones from guys who make them here on the RPF. MUCH better.

Because I'm cheap, I bought the plastic toy ring that comes with almost every Green Lantern toy. I had to dremel out the ring to make it fit my pudgy finger, lol. Also painted the gray part silver, made it look better I think.

I also bought this ring, as a quick, cheap option as unfortunately TRUs, here in the UK, aren't stocking the keyring version. Have you got any pics of the inside of yours, as I wanna tackle mine with a dremel, to make it fit and so just would like to see how you did yours.

Cheers

So, long story short, I was wearing my DC Direct GL ring at a gas station and it accidentally got caught as I was putting the pump away and the resin piece popped off.

Fortunately, it came off fairly cleanly and so it won't be a problem gluing it back together. But, I thought that some of you master modders on here might want to take a look at what it looks like before I do in case any of you wanted to attempt to mod this version of the ring. Here you go:

Thanks for posting those pics! I think that particular ring would be pretty difficult to get an LED in but you never know. :)

Thanks for the pics, it's neat to see how that version of the ring is put together. Glad your ring wasn't damaged beyond repair.

Now I have pics of the inside of mine, lol.

The rubber sides wanted to fall off after dremeling so much off, so I super glued the fronts of them to the back of the green part, you see the seam between the two? Thats where I glued it.

Cheers for the inside pics. The cheap version I have (came with a kid's mask), I'm not sure I can dremel that much off due to the lighting bits inside the band but I'll give it a go :)

Okay, finally got the ring from Bond Galleries.

Whew, whoever called it "felgercarb" was certainly right.

Here's the pix I took:

BG Ring - a set on Flickr

The gem is faceted and sticks out, the focus ring is brass and about 3x wider than it should be. The green resin topper is very dark unless in bright light, and the edges aren't very sharp. It also doesn't include the "notches" that are seen on the sides of the ring.

The band itself seems very light for what is supposedly cast metal, and looks to be grass with the black antiquing. There are obvious mold lines on each side of the band that aren't hidden by the texture on the band--maybe an eighth of an inch below the green resin topper. The band is hollowed out in a 5/8 wide oval underneath the resin topper, which is also hollowed out to match the ring band.

While he claims to have permission to have this reproduced from the prop...I'm highly skeptical after reviewing the pix provided by Stormleader in another thread showing the real things in the process of production.

Given the mold lines, poorly defined edges, etc...it looks like a bad recast...I just couldn't pinpoint whose work it may have been casted from.

As for the rest of the "goodies" that came with the ring, they aren't worth it.

The film cells I received were from two scenes 1 from when Hal Jordan was on Oa talking to the Guardians, and the 2nd from when Hal is trying to get the lantern to work. These appear to be legit cells, but probably cuts from the editing room.

The pictures that come with it are reprints--printed on Kodak paper...clearly showing the file name on the back of each one as well as the printing dates of 07/25/2011...which if these are "promo" items, they would have had a print date of May/June 2011.

The Certificate of Authenticity is a clear laserprint that smears easily, the logos on it are fuzzy, and are only signed by the seller--and nothing from Warner Brothers or DC.

Sad, but unfortunately not unexpected. :( Hope you didn't pay the full price (and gave him appropriate feedback).

If you check out the guy's past feedback, he bought up about five reels of the Green Lantern trailer, so that's where he's getting the cells for the set.

.

Fortunately I didn't pay near as much as he's sold them for in the past. Less than $100, and yeah...his feed back will probably be going up tonight, so it won't be too nice.

I feel sorry for those that aren't here...cause they'll be taken by a fellow like that. :(

LOL. Well, its up and I've opened a case.

He's saying he won't provide a refund unless I remove the feedback...:lol

Report him to ebay for blackmail of refund this guy need to go down I see he still has not refunded that girls money either!

Getting back to the TRU ring... what is the best way to remove the crown of the ring without breaking it? I take it a small screwdriver. If so, where doe you pry from and what type of motion?

EDIT: nevermind, I read Honus' tutorial. It had a section about removing the top.
