Okay, finally got the ring from Bond Galleries.
Whew, whoever called it "felgercarb" was certainly right.
Here's the pix I took:
BG Ring - a set on Flickr
The gem is faceted and sticks out, the focus ring is brass and about 3x wider than it should be. The green resin topper is very dark unless in bright light, and the edges aren't very sharp. It also doesn't include the "notches" that are seen on the sides of the ring.
The band itself seems very light for what is supposedly cast metal, and looks to be grass with the black antiquing. There are obvious mold lines on each side of the band that aren't hidden by the texture on the band--maybe an eighth of an inch below the green resin topper. The band is hollowed out in a 5/8 wide oval underneath the resin topper, which is also hollowed out to match the ring band.
While he claims to have permission to have this reproduced from the prop...I'm highly skeptical after reviewing the pix provided by Stormleader in another thread showing the real things in the process of production.
Given the mold lines, poorly defined edges, etc...it looks like a bad recast...I just couldn't pinpoint whose work it may have been casted from.
As for the rest of the "goodies" that came with the ring, they aren't worth it.
The film cells I received were from two scenes 1 from when Hal Jordan was on Oa talking to the Guardians, and the 2nd from when Hal is trying to get the lantern to work. These appear to be legit cells, but probably cuts from the editing room.
The pictures that come with it are reprints--printed on Kodak paper...clearly showing the file name on the back of each one as well as the printing dates of 07/25/2011...which if these are "promo" items, they would have had a print date of May/June 2011.
The Certificate of Authenticity is a clear laserprint that smears easily, the logos on it are fuzzy, and are only signed by the seller--and nothing from Warner Brothers or DC.
