Hey everyone, don't know if this happened to anyone else, but I pre-ordered the DCD Power Ring from Forbidden Planet in May, and got an email today telling me it was sold out and that they would not be getting any more in stock.
This is the email I received:

Unfortunately this item has now sold out and we are unable to obtain any further supplies. Please be assured that your paypal will be refunded. I apologise for any disappointment caused.

It's a Toys R Us ring. He just puts DC Direct in his title to get more hits (and a question mark to presumably avoid claims of misleading title violations).

It looks like the Toys R Us keychain ring to me, which is still in stock online, if not at your local store.

I've seen a few of those listed as DC Direct on ebay. I even emailed the seller and pointed out their (deliberate) mistake. He thanked me for pointing it out, but never changed the listing.
As for the preorders that were cancelled. It was a limited run so they had to know that they would not have enough to fill all of those orders. That tells me that they intentionally oversold. Sure they have to issue a refund, but in the mean time they can draw interest on that money.

I am sorry but in their business isn't the idea to make a profit and sell as many as you can? Why would you bother if you have to take the time to send all that money back? Wouldn't the numbers look better if they just made more product and sold them? :rolleyes What happen to he supply and demand in today's market? These people are just dumb!
Wow. I am surprised to read this about the DC rings. I consider myself very lucky then, as I didn't pre-order it. I just found one on eBay for the normal Europe price (same number in Eur as $, but the lower shipping makes it come to the same) a few weeks ago and that was it. So sorry to hear this guys :thumbsdown

True. I was just referring to the complaint that they should have made more to make more money.

Depending on labor costs. If they were each hand assembled, work time and cost would be higher.

Also to consider, if they made too many, they would have to dump them below cost, and then loose money. And with all the other versions released, I don't blame them erring on the short side. It looks like the one packaged with the movie masters figure is the diecast adult ring that also lights up.. if thats the case, for the money, there will be another candidate for a good prop ring.

If you mean the ring included with the unmasked Hal Jordan, it doesn't light up at all. It's actually just the known die cast version with a bit more paint (green and silver) added...
