Does anyone know where to get the DC Direct ring? Entertainment Earth is not listing them anymore as they have most likely sold out very quickly. I have looked and can not seem to be able to find a source online to purchase one of these rings. Any help out there?

Pretty much every online dealer I contacted was sold out and said they couldn't order more because they were so backordered. There are also a few comic stores on eBay that have been selling them with a small markup.
However, my suggestion is to contact your area comic book shops and see if they have any left... It took a few calls but that's what worked for me.

Gee wiz! I'm relieved I had mine on pre-order months in advance. Mine came a few days ago and I am very happy with it. Had I known it would be this hot of a product, I would have pre-ordered more than one!
I currently have the Lantern prop on pre-order too - wonder if that will sell out quickly too?

Here's the sample I made- it's now been running for 48 hours but it's definitely dimmed over the last 12 hours. This photo was taken at around 8 hours.
I think with the PCB it's still too thick to fit into the TRU ring so I'm going to make another one tonight to see if I can shrink it down using a smaller battery and move the LED to the center of the battery. How large is the opening on the underside of the TRU ring?

The recess in the metal band is approximately 14mm across by about 3.5mm deep. Note that it's not smooth, as there are grooves and tiny peaks made to reflect light that are designed into the metal.

Thanks! I may JUST be able to make it fit- it's going to be really close as the coin cell and LED measure approximately 3.3mm together. If I use some Kapton tape as an insulator I may be able to solder the resistor direct to the SMD LED and then make a small bridge to the outer edge of the coin cell to complete the circuit.

I don't know just yet- I still have to get my hands on a ring to see how it's going to fit in there. I'll probably have to mold a little holder or something and then see how the ring will need to be modified. If it works out I'll definitely write a tutorial for those folks that want to do it themselves.

Well right now 3.75mm thick by 12.5mm diameter is about as small as I can make it using a smaller LED. I tried making one without a PCB but it was just too fragile.
Wow, nice design...can't wait to see how it looks when you get it installed in the ring!
Since I wear a size 10 ring, I cannot wear the DC direct ring...UNLESS I shim it out with some felt or something. Other than that, with it now being sold out everywhere, I'm not sure if I want to chance damaging it if I were to wear it out.

I've been thinking about that as well and it's certainly not easy given the amount of space. Some type of pressure plate that sticks through the bottom of the ring would be best so when you slide it on your finger the ring turns on. I just don't know exactly what will work until I can get my hands on a ring- there simply may not be any room for a switch.
Where do you get that?
