Green Lantern movie Power Battery...

Most people want to see a movie version of good thing done close to it's original, for instance, Speed Racer, was way different from the original, but was good in it's own way.

On the other hand, they kept all the cars you'd come to love close to the same.

If you think this is bad, you should see how badly they've butchered the new Batman movie costume!! It doesn't look like grey spandex and blue tinted leather at all!! What were they thinking?!

And The Joker doesn't even have a mustache under his facepaint!!



Seriously, this design has the basic lines of the power lantern without making it look like a prop from a 1998 made for tv movie. Because that's what a direct replica of the comics would be.

dont put me in the same collection of people that think thats a good idea. it unnerves me to see people wanting adam west to cameo in any bat film.

the 98 tv movie that never aired, wasnt even a direct replica. come on.

if they can make oa a dirty cave covered landscape from the bins of the world of warcraft design department, they can easily make oa what it is in the books, a sprawling interstellar space cop headquarters. lets be reasonable here. it takes just as much energy in a cg program to make a rock that it does making a city.

would you believe an intergalactic police squad would be centralized on a dirt planet with zero buildings? so, what are our cops doing in buildings and not working out of the woods?

you are aware that hal jordan doesnt have a railroad lantern correct? you said this one doesnt look like one, and then you said it again. hal's not supposed to be one. that lantern belongs to alan scott. with very very very little ties to the green lantern corps, such as his lantern/ring were made in the shape of a RAILROAD lantern from the starheart/meteor that is the same substance the corps rings are made from. he is NOT a corps member.

with your following comment on the oan power battery, i am justified that you really have no idea what you're talking about regardless it was in jest or not, it is the oan power battery. it is the base model for every lantern's power battery and in no way shape or form does this redesign appear any where remotely close to what the original is, nor does it even loosely resemble a lantern.

but please, do continue with nonsense.

i have no problems with things being updated. what i do have problems with is something being changed just for the sake of changing it. isnt that what everyone hated about ang lee's hulk? LXG? judge dredd? punisher?

Just my two cents, and correct me if i'm wrong, in the comics, each Green Lantern can customize their own lantern to look anyway they wish. Hal's is different from Kyle's, Kyle's is different from John Stewerts, ect........ In the early comics, they could turn the ring into a pair of sunglasses. MAYBE, just maybe this is the basic lantern they issue them and it can be customized later, I doubt it, but we can hope. I personally don't like when they change things just to change them, but at least they are finally making a Green Lantern movie. We can at least be thankful for that.

You're stating your opinoin as fact. That drawing of Oa from Emerald Knights you posted looks like Krypton, because that's how the artist drew it. If you took the central power battery out of that picture, I'd bet you wouldn't be able to say WHAT alien city it was. In First Flight, the cities of Oa floated. And Oa in Emerald Dawn looked different than that. And Oa in Secret Origins... Same with Krypton. Donner's krypton looks ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like it was drawn at the time. The concept of crystals was new. Then when it was re-done in '86 Krypton looked different, still. And Krypton from Birthright... So it always changes depending on how the artist wants it to look. No difference here.

So the ONE picture released doesn't look like the traditional Coleman lantern? Big whoop. If you're going to get hung up on the details of how their costume is different in the movies, and how the lantern has been redesigned, and condem the entire move because of said changes, you're a sad little man who has a lot of hardships ahead of him.

Oa doesn't look perfect in YOUR eyes. Looks fine in mine. So saying it's inaccurate is your opinoin, not fact. NOT FACT.

And before you say im misinformed about the GL mythos, blah blah blah... you should know your enemy before you confront them. I'm not as misinformed as you assume.

i know that photo i posted, was a current panel from a current book. if they really wanted to go vintage, and you were really worth your gl weight in salt, you'd know hal's first appearance the whole planet of oa was a city of yellow buildings. but that salright, no convincing you otherwise! you read gl! you know whats going on! WHY do I have to be "informed" on the Green Lantern mythos, to have the opinion that THIS:

The Kyle Rayner one at least has SOME pizazz, but these both would look right at home if Green Lantern appeared on an episode of the 60's Batman.

The Great and Powerful Oan Power Battery? STILL looks like Q-Bert, only now I'm leaning toward it wearing Donald Duck's hat.

And before someone spouts off again about not knowing anything about Green Lantern, I've been reading DC since Pre-Crisis, kids. I'm more of a Flash fan, myself.

Look, the movies re-design stuff. That's how it works. People didn't like it when they changed the Batmobile. Or Iron Man's suit. Those franchises CLEARLY suffered. :lol

Be happy this movie will bring new fans into the comic shops.

The petty ones always do. It does clearly say on those photos "concept". And yes, I read where you said it's fairly late in the game to release concept art. I wasn't awair of a set time table for when these things needed to happen. And that shot where the green energy is being shot out, looks to be quite a distance up from the ground.

I don't care what you eat, nor do I care if you like the movie when it's released. What I don't understand is why are you here trying to sway people away from seeing the movie, saying its innaccurate and that it will flop? Do you need people to agree with you to validate your opinion here? We know you're not excited for it, you don't like the costume, and you don't like the battery. So leave well enough alone. It doesn't do anyone any good for you to be here whining about how this movie will suck before even a trailer has been released.
