Just opened my box of parts ... these are incredible! Thanks again Solo, for all of the work. I set up the mount and it all fits together perfectly ... a thing of beauty. The only thing I'm running into is that I'm getting a good amount of play in both directions (back and forth from barrel to butt, along the relief, and side to side from left side of gun to right) when I mount the weaver rings onto the dovetail. My first conclusion was that it's probably just due to small inconsistencies in the weaver rings. I'm also wondering if having a bit of paint on the dovetail will snug things up enough. If not, do you have any recommendations to tighten the fit? I was thinking I could either sand down the weaver ring a bit so that I could tighten the wheel down further, or using a dab of epoxy maybe?
YES I accounted for the PAINT thickness or they would be a huge nightmare to put together later. I did think of that. Try it and you will see.
I stayed within a couple thousandths for clearance. Some fit and finish is required on the parts, like the grills, and some screws being a hair longer than others, etc.
ANOTHER THING, THE WEAVER RINGS WERE NEVER PART OF THE RUN, THEY CAN BE SOURCED ON EBAY FOR ABOUT $10 shipped or on GUNAUCTION for about the same.
This was clear when the GRILL Turned into the hole kit, that the weavers would be a giant nightmare to make a tiny production of and could be sourced for cheaper than it would be for me to make them.
Thanks for the quick response, and pardon my ignorance. I guess I should have just assumed it was for the paint. Fully understand about the Weaver rings, they are a dime a dozen on Ebay.
Wow, what a beauty! Real Mauser ... and is that a real Compac??
