Interest Greedo Killer Accurate Grill

Looks fantastic, the weathering really sells it :)

Thanks for the glass glue :) is this the stuff that doesn't fog clear surfaces?

Can't wait :)

Thanks again

Oh and get well !

Correct its for glass, just a tiny film on the shoulder the glass fits to. Hold it for 30 seconds and wait 24 hours for full cure.

Gorgeous job on the scope, love it!!!!!!!! That finish on the Mauser looks fine too, is that one of Boba's modified Denix? Nice, NICE stuff!!
No I did a handful of Denix myself..

Received my grill today! And you actually sent me two. Is there someone I can forward to or just send back to you?

yes you can return it, I was not feeling really great this week and I was pushing through it before our holiday weekend kicked off.. I triple checked everyone's orders to make sure I was thorough. It happens, my telephone number is in my SIG if anyone needs it.

I like House of Krylon black primer, Birchwood casey PC-9 maybe some A-14 by Birchwood Casey. https://www.sculptnouveau.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=37

Scotchbright green pad, and other abrasives. I start by removing all the paint I can from the Denix and knocking down the mold lines, someone else here did a thread on that and I found it to be most helpful when it comes to accurizing. I also found that removing material can expose air bubbles that are in a couple of them I have done and it blew out holes making the denix a worthless hunk of crap at that point if its accuracy I am trying to achieve. ( one was really bad in a couple spots like the trigger guard, and another only in the false firing pin in the back of the slide. You will definitely need a good assortment of nice files, small ones like the Needle file( this was also in someone else's thread. Files are a pretty good tools to have regardless.

I find that applying heat with a torch to any metal "specifically Aluminum" before you apply A-14 rapidly increases the effectiveness of it.

I explain this in a how to video I did several months ago. Here:

A lot of it is trial and error.. I try to look at the pictures of the gun or screen grabs, but I would almost rather do an homage rather than try to make it exact or fully screen accurate when it comes to weathering.

Also if you have seen a used gun, it will have wear marks where it is handled or comes in contact with other things the most.

IDK, but those are some of the things I do.

Everyones parts and kits have shipped.. Now I have to actually finish one completely. With sound...

If anyone needs me just let me know.

thanks

I received my parts today.

To call these parts OUTSTANDING is an understatement.

Beautiful job sir!

Thank you for doing this run!!!

More finishing detailing help needed.

Ok, I already got the answer for the scope.... satin black

Now I am looking for info on the grill:

  1. What sheen black paint is used?
  2. Is the fastener a prop detail or just a preferred way of fastening the grill?
  3. Is the fastener painted as well?
Thank you.

The grill screw is purely aesthetic, its placement on the prop in the archive photos didn't translate to much if any meat to grab into were it to be used as a fastening method.

Like the DL -44's Cylinder grill, it is not coming off with some strong Adhesive. If someone wanted to they could use JB weld..

The grills will require some fit and finish, there are differences between the replicas,DEnix/ MGC and if anyone is using a real mauser.
I talked about it in the Kit breakdown video.

Great info. My current grill is taped in place and that is what I plan to do with this one.

What sheen of black is the grill need to be painted? Is the screw also painted on the prop or just a bare metal screw? If so, is it the same color/sheen as the grill?
