Greedo Blaster Pics

I just finished up some 1:1 scale blueprints. The cone shaped parts on top of the gun look about the same size as a pen tip, so I'm wondering if the original was actually just a pen part and they used the inside of a pen for the "rod" that sticks out of it.

I'm scratching my head over that "rocket tailfin" part. I suppose they used a combo mill and lathe to make it? Any one have some suggestions?

I should be able to get some prototypes machined next weekend. I'll post some photos once I get them done. :cool

I think an idealized version of this weapon would have the barrel bent to the right (how else do you miss someone sitting about a meter away).

You can display your "Solo Misser" next to your "Greedo Killer"

The cone shaped parts on top are the same toggle switches or 'antennae' that most people here refer to them as. They are on the Merr Sonns and Han's hero blaster.

:lol I'm going to say Greedo was cross-eyed, you just can't tell.

For the little antennae, ask Lonepigeon. I'm pretty sure at one point he gave me the exact dimensions. I know I have them somewhere, just not sure where.

I've drawn up my own blueprints and I'm finalizing the measurements today.

However, I'm scratching my head over the "dart" like parts. How exactly do I machine those? Are the fins machined seperately and then attached to a round piece?

To me it looks like a tube (with a rounded dome shaped rear end) and a dart 'head' stuck on the front end.

The dart head is like a cone shape with U shaped channel scallop cuts, four I think.

I built one a few years ago. Not 100% accurate.
It's built on an airsoft Ruger Mk. 1, which has a corrected rear sight. I also added Boba Debt's machined muzzle and a set of aluminum "Imperial discs" on the grips. The rest of the greeblies are resin casts I bought from another RPF member. . . but it's been a while and I can't remember who offered them! (This was around 2004 I think.)

The whole shebang was painted with Rustoleum satin black and weathered with Floquil silver and a tiny size 0 brush.

On the back of the receiver I added a black screw cap. The same type that's seen on the stormtrooper comlink (which also uses the machined muzzle from this blaster! :))

Cool! Hasbro is using you replica for their 6" Greedo figure.

No, that is the highest they did but if you are just interested in the blaster picts, go to the original source:

That's what I was saying;it's superjedi's replica they are using for their reference. But it looks really good and I now think I might try to build this blaster using his replica as a guide.

That's what ticks me off is that Lucasfilm has all these great photos of different weapons, but they don't put it in the reference books (like Chronicles, Visual Dictionary, etc.). If they do put it in there, they are little tiny pictures. I don't know if they purposely do that so the details are harder to see or what.

These are the most decent photos relative to Greedo's blaster that I've seen around anywhere. I wonder why there's such little reference for this prop?

I wish I still had my old visual dictionary to take some better scans of the Jawa version of the blaster.

Also I wonder if there was ever another part on Greedo's blaster at some point, this photo below shows what looks to possibly be a large-ish round part on top of the blaster..? But then again the blaster portion of the photo is pretty darn blurry too, so it could very well be an illusion.

That´s Erics build, silly me.
I believed these to be pics of the actual screenused props :(

Hey Carson

I think the "roundish" part you´re referring to is actually the combo of TOMTIT parts, which was added to the bolt-area of the Ruger.
The pics shows Greedo holding this blaster at a slight angle, giving the illusion of these details sitting "on top".

That's what I was thinking at first too. I decided to do a google search to see if the picts came up anywhere else for more info, that is how it lead me to this thread.

Marcus, are you doing this pistol? Assuming you have not done it already because this looks like something I could do especially since the MK1 is a easy and relatively cheap gun to get (I know the rear sigh on current models are not exact). I'd like some help getting ahold of the other parts as I do not know who makes what these days?

Well....I PLAN to do it some day ;)

I have two deactivated Rugers (correct model) stored away.
We know about the TomTit parts, the pulley discs on the grip shells and the round thing on the rear, which is a snap-on cap, as found on the Stormtrooper commlink. So "all" we need is to track down these "missile" shaped greeblies and we should be good to go.

Any idea what these could be???

Markus
