Graflex replica rusting

I was sizing up the work remaining on my ESB luke graflex, and I noticed hundreds of pinpoint sized spots of rust. I should note that I've had this graflex replica for almost a year and the whole time I've had it, it's been in it's original mailing box, wrapped in bubble wrap. Has anyone ever encountered this before? Any ideas on what I might be able to do to stop the rust from continuing to form?

how wierd is this,

i literally got mine out yesterday to take pictures for the junk yard and its happened on mine, im hoping soming like brasso or silvo will clean it up

A thin coat of paste wax rubbed in to the metal will protect against rust. More of a preventative thing though.

Hello there,

Mine are just laying around in my living room for several years now, one on the table in front of me ... no spots of rust or whatsoever and I even take them in my hands from time to time to show them of to my friends without considering to wash my hands first :lol
